Nath "Stax Overflow" 2.0

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari)

CaptainBrash

Preface: very happy to accept constructive criticism, the deck isnt quite performing how i want it to but not sure if thats down to bad/unlucky shuffling but i rarely seem to be drawing my tutors and removal! also Gaea's Cradle has hugely artificially increased the deck cost (i have the gold bordered version which was £35 ;) ) COMBOS: Mindcrank + Bloodchief Ascension to mill+damage all opponents as soon as a card hits their graveyard

Squirrel Nest + Earthcraft for unlimited squirrels followed by unlimited mana the next turn then win
either by Torment of Hailfire or attacking with unlimited squirrels.

Sadistic Hypnotist + Nath to discard all opponents hands and get a load of elf tokens.

Welcome to Stax Overflow! There are two main ways of playing this deck, there are probably more which I will discover as I play the deck more. basically you either lock the table down early, using various Stax pieces and breaking parity with ramp so that when you get the MAIN EVENT out, the opponents don't have enough resources to answer it. What is the MAIN EVENT? you ask. Nath of the Gilt leaf + Sadistic hypnotist, this is a combo equal to the size of all opponents hands, it makes everyone discard their hands and gives you a nice stack of elf tokens. There are plenty of supporting cards that can make it more dangerous, Wits End, Blood Artist, Poison Tip Archers, Gravepact, Megrim, Liliana's Caress. All of these provide advantage to some part of the combo, either punishing opponents for sacrificing the elves or damage for them discarding cards, or providing you with advantage in the form of Zombies, card draw, more mana.

Once they have no hands you have the advantage of having plenty of options in your hand while the opponents have very limited options, then its a matter of removing threats with removal, building up your mana base so you can end the game with Torment of Hailfire, Deathcloud, Exsanguinate etc.

The other option is to keep dropping mass removal bombs and removing key threats while ramping up your mana to then end the game with the same game enders I have just mentioned. there are lots of tutors to get the cards you need, and try to keep the opponents board presence to a minimum.

You will make enemies, people will lose all critical faculties and just focus you, even if you aren't the main threat of the game, because you have shut them down in previous games. It is lots of fun though and very satisfying to be the main enemy. Enjoy.
