Hello friends, followers, Nath players and anyone who is interested,

It has been a loong time since I played MtG and especially this deck. Lots of expansions have passed us since... Lately I picked up this deck again and it felt great. Because of this, I went looking into all the possible goodies that have been spoiled so far, but with a small disclaimer;

Our playgroup decided to stop following all the new sets of WotC and keep playing with all sets we acquired until the pandemic broke out. The last set we decided on being legal for our current playgroup would be 'Theros Beyond Death'. Since I currently solely play with these people, I tend to keep this promise and stick to any card till this set.

Offcource I am interested in your suggestions to improve this deck, just be aware of my statement above.

After the last few games and looking at my current deck, I removed 3 cards in the lineup:

  • Sensei's Divining Top : It always gives me joy having one present. But I have to be straight on this card for this deck. It can be versatile in certain situations, but on its own it is not solid enough in here.

  • Root Maze : It's alright, but not that powerful to warrant a permanent spot. it was a nice try, but better options lurk on the horizon.

  • Finale of Devastation : Powerful indeed! But only when X becomes 10 or more. And many games end before I even reach X = 10. I prefer other options early- and midgame.

    The new additions for this deck are:

  • Bottomless Pit : It's been on and off this list for several years. It's a matter of balance and currently I felt that I needed an extra discard slot. The first viable card that should fulfill that role is now back in the lineup again.

  • Fevered Convulsions : I have been looking at this card recently as a re-usable removal option. We can drop it early in the game and can use it as a mana sink when other options are less desired. I am looking forward to testing this enchantment.

  • Destiny Spinner : The only card that I picked from the long list of new spoils for me. This makes me smile: enchantment matters in this deck, so an extra mana sink that is impactfull + blue is dominant here... This could be an answer in any part of the game.

    Thanks for reading and if you feel you could contribute any thought for this deck, then please feel free to leave a comment below.

Stax regards,

PJ
