Sideboard

Artifact (1)

Note: I play EDH in a fairly casual setting where infinite combos are house-banned, so keep that in mind when reviewing my decklist...
I've tinkered with discard a few times in EDH. It is a difficult theme to transition from a single- to multi-player format because most of the best discard spells target a single player. Using up resources to nuke one player's hand when you still have two (or more) other opponents to worry about is not very strong, but what this deck does well is go global and constant with its discard. It looks underwhelming at first, but I encourage you to playtest it and see what your board state looks like come turn 7-8. What the deck lacks in raw power, it makes up for with efficiency, excellent synergy, and smothering control elements.

*Timing is everything with this deck, especially in the early game. There are many 1- and 2-drop mana dorks in the deck specifically to get Nath out a turn or two early, which is critical because then you can maximize the effectiveness of using your strong discard spells on turns 4-6.** The reason I like to key in on these turns with discard is because this is the transitional phase for most decks from their early game into the beginning of their mid-game. They've likely laid most of their lands from their opening hands and they've cast their cheap cards and a ramp spell or two, leaving their hands ripe with more powerful cards that they are preparing to use. And if you aren't hitting their threats or power cards, then you're most likely hitting their answers to your threats instead. Either way, you're building up a significant elf army with Nath the whole time.

**A couple of good cards that combo beautifully with Nath (as well as with Waste Not and Geth's Grimoire) are Anvil of Bogardan and Necrogen Mists, which assure you a discard trigger at the beginning of every player's turn. Memory Jar is the real bomb though, as timing it right can net you up to 20+ discard triggers at once!

**Once you've sucked every last resource out of your opponents' hands and forced them into topdeck-mode, hopefully you've got your Thoughtpicker Witch on the battlefield with a healthy elf army to sacrifice to fateseal your opponents' answers away from them. Then they'll have little hope of answering your late game with this deck. It's a grindy, painful death.
