Walks with Narset (primer w description)

Commander / EDH* Budget Combo RUW (Jeskai, America)

TheLoneDart

Hey everyone, welcome to my budget deck tech/primer for my Narset deck! Coming in at around $200 dollars this deck is still along the lines of budget but at the same time has an unbelievable amount of power that will allow it to run with the top decks in the format.

For those of you who haven't seen a Narset deck before the strategy is simple - ramp up into Narset and then ABUSE her ability. What's her ability do you ask? Well, it allows you to exile 4 cards when she attacks and then case nonland cards FOR FREE until end of turn.... She is ABSURDELY powerful which I will try to demonstrate to you now.

Basically, the core of this deck is made up of only a few different types of spells:

  1. mana rocks like Sol Ring , Worn Powerstone , Izzet Signet , Prismatic Lens , Basalt Monolith and so on, which allows us to ramp up and cast Narset early. Since she's 6 mana and has only a 3/2 body, we need to make sure she either attacks early or is protected from dying, thus making mana rocks important for creating tempo in the matchup and ultimately allowing her to attack unscathed

  2. equipments and auras that boost her stats. these cards include Darksteel Plate , Aqueous Form , Helm of the Host , Steel of the Godhead , Strionic Resonator and so on. These cards allow us to take our 3/2 first strike, hexproof Narset (which already has great stats in her own respect) and beef her up, giving her things like +x/+0, indestructible, double strike, make second copies, unblockable, etc etc etc, until she becomes this absolutely disgusting unstoppable force that makes heads spin

  3. TURRRRRRRRRRRRNS (and combats) - that's right folks - walks with Narset means TIME WALKS! woop! free extra turns and extra combats.... And here's where the REAL strategy comes in. With Narset you usually only need to attack once for it to be game over... How, you ask? Well, she exiles spells and casts them for free, we already know that. With the spell package in this deck we can more or less just keep taking attacks and exiling cards, casting more walks/combats for free, casting equipments and auras for free, making narset's stats strong, attacking again, exiling more stuff, making her bigger and better and more evasive, taking extra turns, doing that over again, getting more stuff, keeping on going, blah blah blah until the whole game is warped around Narset and everyone is sitting at the table in tears while you're laughing uncontrollably. Anyway, here's a list of the turns spells I've included (please also be advised there's more options you can add in if you want to spend more money on the deck) - Nexus of Fate , Temporal Mastery , Temporal Trespass , Beacon of Tomorrows , Time Stretch , Part the Waterveil , Karn's Temporal Sundering , Savage Beating , Seize the Day , Fury of the Horde , World at War , Relentless Assault , Walk the Aeons , which can be copied to double down with spells like Reverberate , Thousand-Year Storm , Howl of the Horde , Insidious Will , etc.

  4. utility spells - this can be tutors ( Enlightened Tutor , Mystical Tutor ), removal ( Swords to Plowshares , Stasis Snare , Detention Sphere , Cast Out ), Thousand-Year Storm , divine reconing, Tragic Arrogance , Steam Augury , Wear / Tear and SO ON!

The other obvious category of stuff is lands.

Basically we're looking to play this deck as such.

t1-3, ramp and maybe do some searching t4, cast Narset t5, combo off by going voltron with Narset, attacking and starting to take Walks that will allow us to exponentially determine the fate of the game.

As mentioned before this deck is ONLY $200 dollars!

It's also been extensively tested and performs well against competitive decks... As a matter of fact, I almost wouldn't recommend to play this against a casual playgroup since you'll almost always a) win, and b) in the process of winning take a 15 minute turn where you draw and cast your whole deck.

Otherwise, if you want something POWERFUL as all hell and extremely efficient then this is your deck and it comes at a swell price.

Thanks very much for stopping by to take a look and I hope you love the concept as much as I do :) Please hit that +1 to promote the deck so others on the site will be more apt to see it.

Cheers!
