At Journey into Nyx Prerelease I happened upon a group of minotaur cards that led me to a 3-1 record. I was so in love with these guys that I made a constructed minotaur deck that was fun to play and pretty dang affordable!
Now you may be asking... "Why on EARTH would minotaurs be a good idea?!?"
Well slow down there bucko' I haven't even explained my deck yet ...jeez.
Creatures
Gnarled Scarhide - This guy is an all star as he is a great 1 drop along with his bestow which can buff your cow people or get rid of the opponents pesky defender, deathtouch annoying thing
Deathbellow Raider - A nice 2 drop with regenterate, who could complain?
Felhide Petrifier - He gives deathtouch to everything, scaring people away from blocking or attacking your beautiful minotaurs.
Rageblood Shaman - Buffs your minotaurs bigger than any other animal on the barnyard
Kragma Warcaller - Gives atticking minotaurs WHAT?
Ragemonger - This is the creme dela creme of the minotaur deck. Gnarled Scarhide for free? Kragma Warcalle for 3? Yes Please!
Mogis, God of Slaughter - The game has to end some time and this giant moo moo cow is gonna wrap it up in a nice present and send it off to grandma's house.
Sorcerys/Instants
Magma Jet - Scry 2 after I deal two, good for quick damage/removal
Mizzium Mortars - Cows hate Bloodbaron of vizkopa, Archangel of Thune, ect and love board wipes.
Dreadbore - All the minotaurs need your help to remove things they can't. (they're not invincible after all)
Enchantment
- Whip of Erebos - Lets you heal up by drinking all the cow milk like a deranged loonatic!
Sideboard Explained:
This is the first deck I have ever had that a sideboard didn't just sit there ...on the side...
Dark Betrayal , and Doom Blade are conditional, not every meta deck is weak to them so they are logically in the sideboard. They could take the space of whatever instant or sorcery I feel is less useful in the match-up.
Magma Spray - Its the new Pillar of Flame and strictly better than Shock and great for dealing with graveyard effects like Voice of Resurgence
Slaughter Games - Looking at you Shadowborn Apostle and Pack Rat.
Felhide Spellbinder - you can never have too many cows.
Door of Destinies - Can take the place of Whip of Erebos if need be.
