CUTBOARD:

Summon things, draw cards, take extra turns, profit.

Heavily based off of Simon and Chemtails's deck:budget Edric deck. I've been playing extensively for about a month. This is what I've learned.

Boosters: These cards give your weenies special abilities. The reason why we do not run Triumph of the Hordes or Craterhoof Behemoth or anything like that is because of Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive . All of our creatures except Eladamri and Edric himself are in Tetsuko range. Eladamri, Lord of Leaves is also very good, considering how many elves are there.

Weenies: These are the bread and butter of your deck. They are usually 1 or 2-drop creatures with 1 power or toughness or some form of evasion (flying, unblockable). You rush the field and keep up. Every creature but Edric and Eladamri doubles as a weenie due to Tetsuko. Bonus points for Elves and Rogues. In a meta where we have two Sliver players, I get strange looks whenever Galerider Sliver comes out. It's rather simple: It's a 1-drop flier, and the more fliers I get, the more cards I can draw.

Manadorks: Elves. Always Elves. These synergize disgustingly with Eladamri, and if you have it, Priest of Titania . They can also double as weenies, if needed. We don't run Birds of Paradise or Noble Hierarch because they don't do damage.

Regrowths: Do exactly as it says on the tin. Get things back to your hand. You usually use these to get back wincons, but you can use them on a counterspell. Eternal Witness is the best regrowth because she doubles as a weenie under Tetsuko range.

Hate: Get things off the battlefield. My meta is predominantly artifact/enchantment, but we have a Kresh the Bloodbraided player. I tech in creature hate, and Phyrexian Revoker helps shut down activated abilities.

Counters: Use these. You are extremely, extremely susceptible to certain threats. Use them wisely, especially on our silver bullets. I would highly recommend acquiring a Flusterstorm - I'd consider it one of the Big Three counterspells (Force of Will, Mana Drain). I'm a fan of Annul because of my local meta.

Lands: Mostly basic lands. You want mana, and you want it immediately to cast creatures and counters. My personal exceptions are checklands, fastlands, and shocklands. We got a Trop around here though. I'm kicking around cutting Thornwood Falls and Woodland Stream . I also include Reliquary Tower to keep my toolbox of cards at any given time.

Draw: Card draw. Mystic Remora is our best form of it, aside from our commander. Baral, Chief of Compliance is great too, with his loot effect, his cost reduction, and doubling as a weenie. Coastal Piracy and Bident of Thassa seem like win-more cards to me. I've only had a few games where they were useful for me.

Ramp: All these cards are self-explanatory. Quick mana, except for Thought Vessel.

Tutor: Once again, self-explanatory. Merchant Scroll for counters or creature hate. Green Sun's Zenith for a mana dork, Eladamri, Lord of Leaves , or Dryad Arbor (if you have it). Mystical Tutor for Notorious Throng mid-Edric resolution.

Wincons: Your primary wincon is Notorious Throng . If it resolves and you have Regrowths or other time walks, you win the game. Your secondary wincon, which can also be used to cap out a win, is Biomass Mutation . This is the only overrun that I would ever consider running. It's a nice finisher if you have enough fliers/unblockables. Be very careful that you will be over Tetsuko range, though.

Eternal Witness + Nephalia Smuggler +Time Walk spell: Infinite turns. With Throng out, you get infinite 1/1s too. You flicker EW every turn and get it back.

Cutboard: Champion of Lambholt, Spelljack, Unravel the Aether, Bident of Thassa, Coastal Piracy, Thornwood Falls, Woodland Stream
