It is an elf deck. It runs the current elf staples as you see listed. The deck runs pretty quick and consistent. Gnarlroot Trapper serves double duty as mana ramp in the beginning and helps the other weenies trade with fatter targets in the end. The Elvish Visionary and Sylvan Messenger help you dig deep into your library, while the Sword of the Animist and Nissa, Vastwood Seer   helps stabilize mana base while also insuring that future draws are more relevant. Shaman of the Pack and Foul-Tongued Shriek help burn the opponent down at any stage of the game.

Nissa has no trouble transforming at all if she comes into play as a sword can have the seventh land out as soon as the 5th turn. Being an elf herself she plays well with shamans, Dwynen, messengers, elites, and trappers. I included the Temur Sabertooth in this build despite his not being an elf for obvious reasons, with enough lands flying around his ability to bounce an ETB effect creature to my hand and cast it over and over again makes for some ridiculous plays such as repeatable Shaman of the Pack burn, 1-4 more elves in my hand every turn with Sylvan Messenger, Repeatable removal when I side in Gilt-Leaf Winnower or with Eyeblight Assassin , repeatable forest fetches with Nissa, Vastwood Seer  , token generation with Dwynen's Elite , or extra card draw with Elvish Visionary. Or you could just plain use it to save an important piece (or himself) from removal effects.

The meta-game in my area mainly consists of aggressive creature swarms which is why I mainboard Eyeblight Massacre , on the off chance I might be up against a control deck with big baddies I have Gilt-Leaf Winnower and/or additional Ultimate Price to side in. If I find myself in a mirror match or against some rogue life-gain deck the Tainted Remedy will be sided in.
