This is the budget version of My Big, Black Ob Dixilis (PRIMER)

How Does This Deck Win?

This deck has a number of win-cons, but the most common is to get 21 points of Commander damage with Ob Nixilis, the Fallen. We enable this through a ton of extra land drop cards discussed later on.

• An alternate for Ob is Phage the Untouchable. This deck is already built around getting damage in, so it's not difficult to use those same cards on Phage.

• 10 points of infect damage from a creature using Phyresis and Grafted Exoskeleton

Extra Landfall Triggers

One land a turn isn't going to cut it in this deck. We need ways to get 2-3 land drops a turn. This is mostly accomplished using lands that fetch, and some artifacts that get us an extra land.

The Lands are pretty self-explanatory, so I'll just share some cool interactions:

• Ghost Town and Journeyer's Kite insure we have a land every turn.

• Explorer's Scope and Druidic Satchel give you a chance to top-deck an extra trigger

• Hedonist's Trove let's us play fetch lands every turn.

• Strionic Resonator, Ghirapur Orrery, and Storm Cauldron, Terrain Generator, Sword of the Animist, and Walking Atlas let us get double triggers without having fetch lands. Storm Cauldron also has the benefit of preventing players behind from coming back into the game.

Ramp

This deck ramps in three ways: 1-for-2 lands, Mana Rocks, and Swamp-mana doubling cards.

Lands: Temple of the False God, Everglades, and Myriad Landscape.

Artifacts: Burnished Hart, Solemn Simulacrum, Everflowing Chalice, Khalni Gem, Sol Ring, Sword of the Animist, Charcoal Diamond, and Worn Powerstone

Doublers: Crypt Ghast, Bubbling Muck, and Magus of the Coffers

Draw

The best draw in this deck is the traditional mono-black, "Lose life to draw cards" type effects. We supplement this with artifact/land draw.

Black Draw: Bloodgift Demon, Ambition's Cost, Ancient Craving, Read the Bones, Underworld Connections, Greed, Night's Whisper, and Ob Nixilis Reignited

Colorless Draw: Ghirapur Orrery, Horn of Greed, and Geier Reach Sanitarium

Board Wipes: Perilous Vault, Crux of Fate, Mutilate, and Deadly Tempest

Spot Removal: Malicious Affliction, Victim of Night, Royal Assassin, Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief, Cannibalize, Hex, and Ob Nixilis Reignited

Homeward Path because Ob is a juicy target for any decks that steal creatures

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled Pisses off Vorthos players when I have 3 Ob's on the field. Also is a silver bullet to players with heavy Birthing Pod strategies or a ton of fetch lands.

Chariot of Victory and Sword of Vengeance give much needed trample damage.
