Alright so I made this deck in response to finding out Metalworker is no longer banned. Hurray! Originally it started as an artifact creature deck but, due to Arcum Dagsson's ability to only target non-artifact creatures, it became an artifact combo deck. Perhaps Muzzio, Visionary Architect would be a better commander to more easily grab Metalworker but I have always liked being able to tutor and create combos in EDH. I have changed it several times after testing it out with my play group and I think it holds up fairly well.

Combos:

Darksteel Forge + Mycosynth Lattice + Nevinyrral's Disk

First off, I generally avoid this combo. People *ing hate it, and I can't really blame them. It completely wipes each opponent's board (including lands) and generally results in all of them scooping. Nobody wants to play with this kind of player, especially in a casual format like EDH. However, being a mono blue player you may experience some concentrated hate. Never hurts to throw out Nevinyrral's Disk right before the start of your turn and tell everyone to just chill the * out.

Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth

While Basalt Monolith is perhaps the worst mana ramp card in existence, especially when compared to it's vastly superior cousin's (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Grim Monolith), however it does combo with Rings of Brighthearth for infinite mana. Tap Basalt Monolith down for 3, use it to untap Basalt Monolith, then pay two for Rings of Brighthearth's ability to put another untap on the stack. Then tap Basalt Monolith and continue the never-ending mana combo. Get a Staff of Domination on the field and you got a nice funnel to gain infinite life, untap all your creatures, tap your opponent's down and draw your whole deck. Stay tuned for what else you can do with your infinite mana in the following combo's!

Metalworker + Voltaic Construct + 2 Artifact's in hand

Cause one infinite mana combo just ain't enough. Downside is you can't tutor for this one as easily as you can for the first one. Still, its always fun to combo out with a recently unbanned card and see people go "Come on man, that card is so broken!"

Arcum Dagsson + Myr Turbine

One of the weakness' of this deck is that you need creature's to sac in order to go grab your combo's. There are nine creature's put in for the sole purpose of doing this, but you will likely have only one or two in your opening hand and first three draws. If you must grab any one artifact always grab this first! First off, it is nowhere near as big a target as Darksteel Forge and Mycosynth Lattice. While people will generally realize the significance of the card, you will probably not incur the wrath of your entire play group just by dropping this, especially if they don't know how the deck combo's out. I know you want indestructible permanents (Mycosynth Lattice + Darksteel Forge) but chill out or you'll quickly become target #Uno!

Edit: I added Thornbite Staff to the deck, which if I can get one of the many untap artifact cards out, allows me to create and sac multiple Myr tokens per turn. Much thanks to tcomstedt!

Winters Orb + Mycosynth Lattice + Unwinding Clock

No one like's Winters Orb and generally its a drawback for you as well as everyone else. However, with this combo you can untap all your permanent's during your opponent's turn, and use the Arcum Dagsson + Myr Turbine combo on each of their turns to go grab more goodies while they try to scrap together enough mana for a Shock. Beware, this combo may result in being kicked from your play group (or at the vary least having Winters Orb banned from it). Also, a good card to go grab when you have this combo out is Vedalken Orrery so you can play your hand on there turn as well.

Mycosynth Lattice + Karn, Silver Golem

Use Karn, Silver Golem's ability to turn all there now artifact lands into 0/0 creatures. Guess what happens when a creature's toughness is reduced to 0. They die. 1 colorless to destroy one land. Not bad, especially when they have mana doubling effects in play.

Paraih's Shield + Darksteel Forge + Any artifact creature

Just added this in response to people trying to smash me off the board early. Oh no!!!!!!! Don't attack my 1/1 indestructible Myr Token for 34 commander damage. Awww man :(

Note: Beware bouncing of shield!!

Master Transmuter + Blightsteel Colossus

Unless I go infinite mana, it's usually pretty tough for me to get 12 mana in lands and artifacts. Far easier to just through down Master Transmuter and trade a 1/1 Myr Token for the one shot giant. Plus he can't be countered as easily this way.

Synod Artificer + Mycosynth Lattice

Use Synod Artificer's ability to tap down your opponent's lands (now also artifacts due to Mycosynth Lattice) during their turn.

That's it for individual combo's really, although they can interact with each other in cool ways. All other cards are used to accelerate, slow opponent's, or are just there cause there really is no reason not to have a Jace, the Mind Sculpture in a blue deck (aka good cards are good).

I am looking for comments and suggestions on what to add and, perhaps more importantly, what to cut. First, I am looking for a more efficient way to get my creatures other then Planar Portal. I would prefer if it was an artifact (so I could tutor for it) but all suggestion's are welcome. Thanks for spending the time to look my deck!

Alright, so I pulled the swords cause, while they were good, they didn't really help any of my win conditions. I added Thornbite Staff and Wurmcoil Engine as per suggestion. I also traded a Dissolve for a Dissipate. I added Hinder, Muddle the Mixture, and Synod Artificer. I felt the deck needed some more commander protection, hence Hinder and Muddle the Mixture, plus I can transmute Muddle and go grab Thornbite Staff or Lightning Greaves for my commander. Synod Artificer is can help me untap my artifacts, and with Mycosynth Lattice I can tap down my opponent's lands. Not sure which sword I'm gonna keep in if any. I've got Sword of Fire and Ice at the moment but I think Sword of Feast and Famine may be more helpful will my Winters Orb combo. As always, advice and comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking at my deck!
