Welcome to TasiGigan! This list is a Tasigur, the Golden Fang with Gyruda, Doom of Depths Companion list. How did this deck come together? During Ikoria spoiler season I saw Gyruda and the alternate Godzilla art and told myself, jokingly, that if I ever pulled Gigan, Cyberclaw Terror, I would build a Gigan companion list in commander. Imagine my surprise when I opened my first collector's booster of Ikoria and in it was Gigan, Cyberclaw Terror. I stuck to my joke and built the list and this deck has become my favorite of all decks I've ever built for EDH. If you want to play a Muldrotha deck that isn't like many of the others, this is the deck for you. I'll also discuss a few alternate commanders I had in mind before coming to this final list(which is always changing :P)

Lets Talk Commander Options Show

I initially went through 4 Commander options when I finally sat down to build this deck. The four options were Tasigur, the Golden Fang , Muldrotha, the Gravetide , Sidisi, Brood Tyrant , and Atraxa, Praetors' Voice . Each choice offers its own utilities and I want to go over them briefly just in case you'd like to play one of these over Muldrotha. Tasigur is great at getting cards back from the grave, but your opponents getting to choose means we often aren't getting the cards we want out of our yard with this deck. However, the delve ability has led to some extremely good early plays, allowing for a good blocker in the early game and sometimes a very good sac outlet for Diabolic Intent . Muldrotha is the current commander at the helm, primarily allowing us to have plays when we whiff with Gigan or keep the Gigan going strong. The very first game with Muldrotha at the Helm was noticeably different with consistency. Sidisi was an interesting option, allowing us to get insane value off of our own self mill, getting a massive army of zombies to attack with while we drain our opponent's decks. I think There's a way this commander can be good in a lightly different, more zombie focused, build. Atraxa was the odd one, and seemed extremely greedy an idea but gives us access to white's blink effects like Felidar Guardian and Charming Prince . I think this build could be strong but it will very difficult to build. Try it if you want to.

The Game Plan Show

So how do we win with this deck? Well we have 3 options, that I've found, while playing the list out. The most common way we're going to try and win is through multiple Gigan triggers in an attempt to mill our opponents or to mill ourselves and win with Thassa's Oracle . If we can't win either of these two ways, we can also try to play our opponent's decks with Clones! They're the main focus of the deck as they push our Gigan further than 4 cards deep. You'll have to get crafty with your path to victory if you rely on the clones but this is our backup plan.

So how does this deck work? Well, our goal is to mill one of our 11 clone creatures when we cast Gigan so we can dig another four cards deep and try to hit another clone, or if we fail to hit anything good in our deck we hope to take something from our opponents. Our clones are very important, and some of them do some very special things for our list. We of course have the basic Clone as well as its cheaper counterpart, Phantasmal Image , but after that out clones get a bit more complex. Spark Double is probably one of our best clones in the list allowing us to not only continue our self mill game plan but also to make our clones non-legendary and give us a possible Gigan Army attack to take players out. Similarly, Sakashima the Impostor allows us to have at least one extra Gigan on the field without worrying about the legendary rule, but we can't continue to clone Sakashima the same way we can clone spark double. Next we have Clever Impersonator and Phyrexian Metamorph , which both allow us to copy things other than creatures. There have been many times with this list where Impersonator doesn't want to be a Gigan clone, and Metamorph turns into a ramp play. Metamorph also has the upside of having phyrexian mana, essentially giving us a 3 mana play. Altered Ego and Stunt Double are form of protecting our combo, allowing us to get an uncounterable trigger or allowing us to instant speed react to the removal of Gigan. Evil Twin is a way to remove problem creatures our opponents might have, Vizier of Many Faces lets us get another clone effect out of our graveyard, and works as a 5 mana play, and Progenitor Mimic does so much for this deck I could go on forever about it. Making token copies of Spark doubles is one of the most hilarious things you can do with this deck, and if you get your clones in the right order sometimes you'll end up getting 4 Gigan on your upkeep before you start your main phase. The card is amazing and one reason I could not reasonably cut green from the list.

Other Key Cards Show

Now I want to go over some of the other key cards in this list. It feels unnecessary to go over ramp choices and lands, and our interaction pieces should be clear with plenty of counter magic, tutors, and removal spells. I want to use this section to go over cards like Tainted Pact . Our mana base is a tainted pact mana base so we can play the Oracle Pact combo as a back up plan if we need to end a game that's going on too long. I personally believe all decks should have one combo in them to simply end a game that's been going on for hours and needs to end. It is a cEDH combo, however this deck does not usually combo in this way to win and abuses the clones for an Oracle victory through self mill or devotion.

Next key card is Panharmonicon , a fantastic way for us to double our Gigan triggers, or sometimes even triple/quadruple them with with right clones hitting the board. The utility of this artifact is amazing for this deck for our other etb effects like our Coiling Oracle and Baleful Strix . It even helps Thieving Skydiver get us some extra utility.

Nostalgic Dreams is one card I've been trying to get more people to try out. It's a fantastic card for us to use when we need key cards from our graveyard that we can't quite get with Tasigur. Try it out in your green decks, it does wonders. I have to thank one of my friends in my playgroup for putting me onto this card.

the last key card I want to point out is Titans' Nest . which is basically Search for Azcanta   on crack. It lets us filter our draws on upkeep, and basically gives all of our spells delve which is extremely synergistic with the rest of our deck and does something special for us, allow us to cast spells when we only have 1 mana left.

The deck has one big weakness, however, and that's the inability to cast odd cmc spells. We can't even play them, in fact, in order to keep Gigan as a companion. Many have asked why I don't just put Gigan into the 99 and tutor it out in games, to which I respond consistency matters. Having Gigan as a companion is just more consistent than having to draw a tutor and it's worth it for the effect. To make up for our lack of odd cmc cards we run utility lands with odd cmc activation costs, cards with odd cmc flashback costs, and a couple different delve cards so we can always have plays instead of being stuck with one mana every other turn.
