Maybeboard

WIP Budget Muldrotha deck. Lots of cheap cards supplemented by some cards I had sitting around.. And a proxy for tireless tracker because, well, c'mon. Themes are land ramp, sacrifice, and grave recursion. Sub theme of "recurceries", or instant/sorcery spells I can sling from the graveyard. Vacuum test seems to draw cool combinations even when you don't have time to drop Ol' Moldy. Probably needs more board response, and only has 1 self recurring creature. Haven't playtested with my group yet, but feedback is welcome.

Feedback caveats: I wanted to steer clear of dredge.

Will return and list fun combos when I have the time.

Overall

Invested more heavily into self-mill. While this brought in a lot of new cards into the fold, it also helped me focus and thus make a lot of cuts (from a testing card pool of ~130 cards down to 107). Cut almost every non-recursable instant/sorcery card--they just weren’t worth the space when I plan to dump so much of my deck into my graveyard. The remaining ones, Kamahl's Druidic Vow, Harrow, Grapple with the Past, and Perilous Research, I think are strong/versatile enough to justify remaining.

  • Added Sandwurm Convergence. This deck lacks flying presence, and a 5/5 token every turn is nothing to scoff at.
  • Added Open the Graves. Great new enchantment that helps me stack more zombies onto the field.
  • Added Perpetual Timepiece. Obvious include.
  • Added Stitcher's Supplier. M19 is speaking to me.
  • Added Spider Spawning. Now that I have a higher proportion of creatures, this card is viable.
  • Added Poison-Tip Archer. I'm very excited for this card. Not only is he a good body on the field, he also weaponizes my sacrifices.
  • Added Desecrated Tomb. This card is such a good value engine for recursion strategies! It even gives me return in the unlikely event that I have to bug out and do an emergency graveyard --> library shuffle.
  • Added Vessel of Nascency. What’s not to love here?
  • Removed Jace.. again. He’s good but I have a lot of options and not a lot of room, and he is slow to reach his ult. Siren Stormtamer offers cheap counterspell protection for myself and Muldrotha, and when that fails I have Mystic Snake as a more reliable counter.
  • Removed Cryptolith Rite. Hard to justify its inclusion when everything is fighting for a card slot. The long term ramp didn’t stack up against Song of Freyalise’s perks, despite the quirks.
  • Removed Mycosynth Wellspring and Spine of Ish Sah. Without Costly Plunder, I just don’t have reliable artifact sacrifice.
  • Removed Inspiring Statuary. Leveraging my clues treasures and equipment for ramp was fun, but not reliable enough to include.
  • Removed Crucible of Worlds. See my commentary on other artifact removals. Ramunap Excavator synergizes with other effects better. Also I don’t have 20$ sitting around to actually buy this card.
  • Removed Hedron Archive. This deck already gets a ton of land ramp. Not even the self sac and card draw have made this valuable enough for the card slot.
  • Removed Aid from the Cowl. A difficult choice, but mono green was honestly out of control in this deck, and room had to be made somewhere.
  • Removed Zendikar's Roil. Again, mono green cuts had to happen somewhere.
  • Removed Torment of Hailfire. It’s good and grants some much needed boardwipe, but it’s no Fraying Omnipotence, and more importantly it can’t recur. We don’t like things that just die when they are dead.
  • Removed Destined / Lead // Lead. Instant speed indestructible could be good, but if this deck is doint its job we shouldn’t too afraid to let a creature die, after all. Deadly Allure fills a similar niche but much cheaper.
  • Altered Ego --> Phantasmal Image. Sad not to have Ego on deck, but Image is not only cheaper, it also grants the copy a self sac trigger.
  • Reclaiming Vines --> Acidic Slime. Slime is compostible.
  • Rot Farm Skeleton --> Poison-Tip Archer. Skeleton is a good way to dump cards into my graveyard, but not being able to block severely hinders his usefulness. Archer is really good, and I think will make a better fit for a 4 drop.
  • Thought Vessel --> Deranged Assistant. The essence of self mill is basically extending your hand via your graveyard, so an endless hand isn’t truly that necessary, and Reliquary Tower is honestly better in this deck. Swapped Assistant as he makes a stellar mana dork for Muldrotha.
