I would look for a place for Mulldrifter It's a really good card engine for muldrotha

Mulldrifter is a nice card indeed. Tested that but it’s mostly a one shot card draw. If you are limited to one creature per turn from your grave then u will almost always find a better target to cast. Cards like Hedron Crab or anything that mills you for a few cards every turn while on the board have proven to be the better choice.

Could you go into some of your wincons, how you set up your wins, etc?

Nice deck and thanks for explaining some of the wincons! Nice to see a different take on an awesome commander, +1. I could use some feedback / insight for my own list as well. Let me know what you think: Muldrotha, Tides of Madness (1 combo)

Suggestions: I really enjoy the Seal of Removal in my deck, also Dreamborn Muse seems like a good fit for you. Would recommend.

With regards to mystic remora, are people not playing enough noncreatures or are they playing around its cost? And how has Bear Umbra been?

Thank you jessetaverne. Seal of Removal may be worth a try. I was thinking about testing the black seal for longer now, should really test that. Dreamborn Muse is one of those cards that seem perfect but totally underperform. I tested that card and it’s not worth a slot for this deck. Since Lion's Eye Diamond is so powerful, it’s the first card I tutor up with Trinket Mage or Tolaria West. In the majority of games I got the diamond, so I basically discard my hand every turn. With the diamond, Dreamborn Muse ends up doing almost nothing for me but milling my opponents. Not always a bad thing but it can backfire against another deck that uses his graveyard. Might be better in a deck without diamond.

Bear Umbra has become one of my favorite cards over time. It allows to play some really cool turns. In addition it is a really nice wrath protection. Makes it super easy for you to recover from wrath-effects, even better than Command Beacon. With a Pernicious Deed you can kill the board with your commander surviving and recovering much faster from it than other players.

there is an extra turn spell with a buyback of sacing lands. If you have it, azusa, and crucible, you can just take infinite turns.

Thomasin4413 thanks for your suggestion. I am not a big fan of extra turns and that combo would take 3 card slots. All 3 of them with cards that are not really good outside the combo. Next thing is that my playgroup banned infinite combos that win the game with 3 cards or less. Without that restriction a Triskelion would be a better combo piece with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. That would just take 1 extra slot and win the game on the spot and making Defense of the Heart an auto-win if it triggers.

Pikobyte if you’re considering Seal of Doom you should also consider Sinister Concoction. Costs a card, but is cheaper to activate, hits all creatures and gets 2 extra cards in the yard. All in all more synergistic and powerful i feel, though i haven’t actually played it yet.

This deck seems awesome! It also seems like it depends a lot on Muldrotha. That being said, have you considered Sylvan Safekeeper? It seems like an essentially free way to protect against spot removal.

Pikobyte says... #11

Thanks Cluracin. Sylvan Safekeeper is sitting here and waiting for action. Tested that longer ago and it’s a good card in this deck. It just had some weakness for things like Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Night of Souls' Betrayal or Goblin Sharpshooter. I endet up cutting it for a Diplomatic Immunity. I would definitely re-add Sylvan Safekeeper as soon as I find a card to cut. For now there is just no card I can think of cutting. Maybe if some time passes and my meta does change.

And the deck is not that much depending on Muldrotha as you might think. She makes the deck much better for sure, but you can win games without having your commander ever cast. It is also not that uncommon to have more protection than needed, ending up with Curator's Ward on a Grave Pact.

Nice Deck! Could always play around with Melira, Sylvok Outcast for shenanigans with persist. Can also do silly things with Ashnod's Altar in a deck like this. Just some fun side board options +1!

Pikobyte says... #16

Thanks Heebs297. I get the idea behind Melira, but Mikaeus, the Unhallowed can do the same to my 2 persist creatures.

Ashnod's Altar is a Card i really love. Sadly in tests it did not perform as well as Greater Good. I’ll definitely add it once i found a slot for Nim Deathmantle.

Ah Very good point about Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, more synergy going on there. Enjoy playing it!

really good deck. I find that Crop Sigil and Greater Good are really good espically early game and still holds value later on.

Thanks Voke1012.

Greater Good is already in the deck since the beginning. Crop Sigil might be worth testing.

This is a very expensive deck to be sure. I'm surprised you aren't running Pattern of Rebirth, especially with all the creatures that can easily sac themselves to trigger it.

Another strong card in here would be Palinchron, it already combos nicely with Atzal, Cave of Eternity and Phantasmal Image, which are good cards on their own. Maybe your friends wont like it for the combos though.

Pikobyte says... #22

Thanks Advisorofdark.

Pattern of Rebirth seems very good. Don’t know why that slipped under my radar. Have to find a slot for this!

Palinchron is a card i really like. Sadly our playgroup banned cards like Palinchron and Deadeye Navigator for obvious reasons. They just go infinite way too easy.

Advisorofdark says... #23

I'm glad that the Pattern of Rebirth suggestion was helpful for you. I've been working on a much more janky and combo Muldrotha deck that has dumb stuff like Mindslaver and I'm trying to fit in a Zur's Weirding to lock everyone out of draws, lol.

September 18, 2018 9:25 a.m.

Pikobyte says... #24

Played Mindslaver in here before. It’s an instant win in 1v1, but it’s just really unsatisfying to win a game with it, so I cutted it from the list. Winning just doesn’t feel like winning of no1 has fun doing it. It’s better to lose and have fun doing it than getting a boring win I guess. At least as long as you’re not in a tournament.
