Muldrotha, Queen of the Grave

Commander / EDH BUG (Sultai)

fake117

As you can guess from a Muldrotha deck, this deck seeks to leverage your graveyard to win the game! Although you typically win through value there are two main ways to close out the game:

You can pull a Combat Damage win in 2 main ways, wide or tall.

For wide you will want to focus more on landfall, milling creatures, and recurring creatures. These are the main ways you can get creature tokens. From there get Wonder into the graveyard and you'll quickly have an army of flying critters to kill your opponents with 1000 cuts!

Alternatively if you want to focus on tall creatures you'll want to mill everyone and play large creatures like Lord of Extinction, Consuming Aberration or Splinterfright. Additionally get a Brawn into your graveyard and watch as everyone struggles to block!

Milling can be an effective method of victory and works to both mill yourself or your opponents!
When milling yourself first determine if you want more cards in your graveyard. Typically if you have Muldrotha you'll want a large graveyard as this will be an extension of your hand. As well if you have payoffs like Sidisi, Brood Tyrant you can get more creatures simply by milling yourself!

Mix Sidisi, Brood Tyrant or Syr Konrad, the Grim with Mirror-Mad Phantasm and Elixir of Immortality or Perpetual Timepiece for devastating damage!

When it comes to milling your opponents be careful as some decks actually want to be milled, but more often then not you can use this to your advantage by negotiating with them to benefit the two of you!

Once you decide to mill your opponents you have a number of effective means at your disposal! Look for cards like Altar of Dementia and Phenax, God of Deception to mill your opponents for massive amounts of their libraries!

But MTG isn't just about winning, its about having fun! So with that in mind there were several additions to the deck with that goal in mind!

Firstly there is your ramp and Landfall packages. These cards, combined with your mana base, allows you to get most of the lands out from your library onto the battlefield! When combined with Muldrotha you can easily out ramp your opponents!

If ramping isn't quite what you want to do at the time you can go for the second package and get extra value out of the planeswalkers! Although you don't have as much interaction with loyalty counters as some other decks you typically don't care if the planeswalkers live and will quite often kill them yourself. This is because with Muldrotha out you can just resurrect them to activate their abilities again (and twice on one turn if you can kill them off).

With that out of the way I hope you enjoy the deck and this primer!
