“Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

— Obi-Wan Kenobi

With the creatures in this deck being mostly rogues, ninjas, and pirates, "scum and villainy" seems appropriate...

The goal of this deck is to play a turn one evasive creature into a turn two Yuriko, and start drawing cards.

Originally when I built the deck, the game plan was similar to Edric, Spymaster of Trest; small dudes and extra turns. To cater to Yuriko's abilities Conspiracy effects were added to trigger more draws. Additionally there is plenty of top deck manipulation to stack Yuriko-flips to maximize damage.

After adding the LabMan Doomsday package, the deck has become more focused on winning through that combo.

The initial drafts of the deck had a few more ninjas. Even clunky cards with no place in a cEDH build like Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni and Silent-Blade Oni were in the first version. These cards were cut when slimming down the Agro/Turns version of the deck. Both Throat Slitter and Sakashima's Student have made their way in and out of the deck. Throat Slitter is not efficient enough removal, and Sakashima's Student doesn't advance our all in Doomsday plan.

Ninja of the Deep Hours is still in the deck for now. The allure of drawing three cards per turn off of it and Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow is too strong. In a four-man pod we can often find an opponent without blockers for a turn or two making this a worthwhile line of play.

We usd to play all of them (I think); Conspiracy, Xenograft, Unnatural Selection, Arcane Adaptation, Standardize. I considered cutting this entire class of cards. The two left in this deck have earned their spots. Arcane Adaptation: While 5 mana is way too much to pay for this effect, I'll gladly pay 3 for it. Standardize is just a 2 mana to draw 2+ cards. If you want to learn how do play Doomsday in EDH head over to The EDH Doomsday Primer. AlwaysSleepy does it better than I ever could, and that's where most of the basic ideas and piles come from anyways. This deck seeks to use Doomsday to get Laboratory Maniac and a bunch of draw spells and win on the spot.

Efficiency Pile (mana requitement: with 4 islands in play)

  1. Gush
  2. Lion's Eye Diamond
  3. Gitaxian Probe
  4. Yawgmoth's Will
  5. Laboratory Maniac

Protection Pile (mana requitement: with 4 islands in play)

  1. Gush
  2. Pact of Negation
  3. Frantic Search
  4. Laboratory Maniac
  5. Gitaxian Probe

NOTE: Yuriko is the go-to for opening all piles

The thing I find most lacking in this deck is a proactive method of disruption/protection for combo. In pods with a lot of blue/heavy control decks, its very difficult to get enough counter magic in hand to cast Doomsday safely. I am even considering adding Defense Grid as a sad, non-white Silence. Anyone know of good disruption/combo protection for U/B in a multiplayer environment? Any other feedback or comments are also appreciated.

The last vestiges of an Edric style deck are now gone. Turns package cut for card advantage/selection and more permission.
