A Kinnan cEDH Primer

"I'm here to feed all my monster," Kinnan said proudly with a big smile on his face and continued "See, I have all the mana for all of them! There is plenty for everyone!"

Being a generous patron to all monsters Kinnan's reputation is unrivaled among all monster.

Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy

Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy is a 2/2 for only but hold on that's not all: he provides strong mana advantage early as turn two because almost all (not really but it feels like double) of our mana rocks and dorks are doubled. Also this ability enables new infinite mana combo possibilities. This mana can then be dumped into his build-in mana outlet. Remember you may put a non-human creature among the six cards onto the battlefield and the rest under your library. It allows us to dig deep into our deck and find the creature we want.
The restriction of only putting non-human creatures onto the battlefield with the activated ability is no restriction at all. We have plenty of useful non-human creatures to choose from.
A side note: Sadly Kinnan can't block Tymna the Weaver.

What powerlevel is Kinnan? Well, obviously Kinnan is not and can't be tier 0 or tier 1. He isn't that powerful. We're missing out on the color black and that's a hefty drawback! Regardless these drawbacks I personally think that Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy is at least tier 2 and at best tier 1. In the database Kinnan is ranked as Tier 1.5: "Exemplary" and I agree with their opinion. For the full tier you can follow this link: Commanders by Power Level

Why not Thrasios?

Though Thrasios, Triton Hero is also a cmc 2 Simic commander that has an infinite mana outlet build-in he is already part of the Tier 0 partner duo with Tymna the Weaver. Therefore Thrasios sees alot of play in cEDH already. To separate from those decks I choosed Kinnan over Thrasios.
In comparison is Kinnan in the early game stronger at developing our board state because we gain a huge mana boost with him which is preferable to just being a infinite mana outlet.
Most opponents will acknowledge the power and speed of Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy and try to remove or steal him asap. Therefore we need to protect Kinnan! Only play Kinnan if you can get immediate value out of his board presence or you have some counterspells for protection in hand. With Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy in play all our dorks and rocks will generate one additional mana of that kind. This will help in developing our board state and also having interaction open in our opponents turns.
The main motivation behind our plays should be to set up an infinite mana combo or gain card advantage. To achieve the combo win we play various tutor spells to grab the needed combo pieces. Remember to remove the stax pieces hindering our game plan only when necessary or when it's safe to do so.
To safely win a game of cEDH we need infinite mana and then proceed with an outlet. In the following paragraphs we will at first discuss our infinite mana combos and then discuss the specific outlets.

Infinite Mana

Dramatic Scepter

Have an Isochron Scepter imprinted with Dramatic Reversal along with some mana dorks/rocks on the battlefield. Then Isochron Scepter will generate infinite mana on activation if our non-land permanents produce at least 3 mana. This is possible even without Kinnan in play.

Basalt Monolith

With Kinnan in play an activation of Basalt Monolith generates + colorless mana. We can then use 3 colorless mana to untap Basalt Monolith. This leaves us with + colorless mana. Repeat these activations in the same order to generate infinite colorless mana.

Aura Combos

Having Kinnan and a rainbow dork like Bloom Tender in play we just need either Pemmin's Aura or Freed from the Real enchanting our rainbow dork. On activation of the mana ability we need to generate at least or at first (depending on the rainbow dork). Then we untap the rainbow dork with the aura and continue this loop to generate as much mana as we desire.

Outlets

under reconstruction
Being in and he have access to the best (interactive) spells in the format. We can stop our opponents combo attempts easily with our Counterspells and (non-creature) destroy stax pieces with various removal spells.

We have to make sure that the stax pieces that can affect us never hit the field or are removed when we are ready to combo. Often played stax pieces that hinder our gameplan really efficiently are Null Rod, Collector Ouphe, Cursed Totem, Aven Mindcensor and Grafdigger's Cage. There might be more but these are the worst for us.
With all the stax pieces that efficiently shut down our strategy we have to hold back our interaction for these.

Exclusions

Intruder Alarm: Our creature count is not high enough to combo off with Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy in play and the activations of his ability.

more coming soon
After playing many games with Kinnan at the helm he proves to be really powerful and fast but easy to disrupt. The card worth mentioning in this section is Seedborn Muse that gives us at least one Kinnan or two Thrasios activations per turn.
Temur Sabertooth is a great combo enabler but lacks other applications in our list. It is swapped for Walking Ballista on of the best infinite mana outlets out there. W Wlaking Ballista also offers some board control if we play it early on.
There have been some fine adjustmensts to our dork package that now includes a Paradise Druid.
Sadly Sensei's Deivinig Top underperforms and is now replaced with Talisman of Curiosity.
The Maybe Board contains card that will be tested for the deck.
