Maybeboard

Welcome to Pauper, Myr Retriever!

With this new adittion to the format, I'm positive an artifact combo deck will take over the Pauper meta. This is my go at it!

Taking inspiration in the Krark-Clan Ironworks decks that used to roam Modern, the goal is to draw through the whole deck using our artifacts until we are able to assemble one of our combos to win the game. This deck is probably easier to play in paper than online.
Helps us draw our combo pieces:

  • Etherium Sculptor makes Chromatic Star and Conjurer's Bauble sac to draw without paying mana.
  • Runed Servitor combined with an Ashnod's Altar in play draws both our opponent and us for free.
  • Skyscanner works as a better Runed Servitor when paired with Etherium Sculptor.
  • Infinite ETBs / mana with Etherium Sculptor:

  • One Myr Retriever in graveyard and another in play and an Ashnod's Altar .
  • Etherium Sculptor makes Workshop Assistant work as a Myr Retriever
  • Also worth pointing out that Golem Foundry helps us develop a board even if we don't have the infinite combo yet, which can be cashed in for mana with Ashnod's Altar.

The main payoff in the deck is to flood the board with Golem Foundry, with an aditional Impact Tremors in side if needed.
If you are looking to play combo, the most prevalent combo deck in the format right now is Combo walls. While that deck offers a lot of redundancy in it's pieces, I believe this deck is able to go off around a turn faster with the same consistency, since our whole deck is built to be drawing constantly (when we got the right pieces into play, endlessly). The ugly part is we are weaker to sideboard hate cards, such as Faerie Macabre, which stops our Myr Retriever type combo, and artifact hate in general.

  • Why aren't you running Chromatic Sphere? .
  • I tried to make drawing with Ashnod's Altar and creature artifacts a thing, since that means that even if our Etherium Sculptor is killed we can cycle through our deck, althought I'm aware the cards used for that are weaker. Maybe it's actually right to run it instead of Skyscanner.
  • Why aren't you running Disciple of the Vault / Impact Tremors as a finisher? .
  • I tried to make the deck's mana as consistent as possible, so I wanted to restrict dipping into other colors as much as I could. But the main reason is I didn't want the payoff card to be useless outside of the combo. Golem Foundry helps the deck build a board while looking for the pieces, can be brought back from the graveyard with a Myr Retriever effect and cost less with Etherium Sculptor. The golems also dodge Prismatic Strands
  • Deck building notes .
  • The sideboard need some work. It's main goal should be to protect the combo against interaction. If it's really devastating, maybe running a Metallic Rebuke in main it's worth it. Impact Tremors is there to run against decks with Swirling Sandstorm. The original build run Faithless Looting instead of Careful Study, but I tried keeping the main mono blue. The deck it's in it's REALLY early stages of developement (Myr hasn't even been oficially announced yet!) so a lot of testing and tuning will be needed.
Feel free to leave comments/suggestions down below! Always Appreciated!

Update: The artifact creature cycling is clunky and costs a lot of mana. I've doubled down on the regular artifact drawing with etherium sculptor, and I've added Street Wraith to thin the deck even further.
