Stomp on your rival with big beasts and Ghalta!
To a first glance one might question my choice for 4 Ghalta. Well having a 4 of means I will always have one when I'm ready to cast it and that the big 12/12 will probably be countered or Cast Outed so having a backup will always be nesasary as just one attack with it is enough to be game winning! So your plan is just to stomp on the enemy with big things? What about common removal?! Magma Sprays Abrade Lightning Strikes Fatal Pushes Walk the Planks and Cast Outs! Well Stompy means good quality creature$ and that means common removal will need to be avoided, so here is how my real threats deal with removal: Magma Spray will deal with my mana elf but not anything other that I would care about, Resilient Khenra wants to simply ENTER the arena and Frilled Sandwalla which can scare someone with its abilty (2 mana make ghalta 2 cheeper and buff) is ok to die, however, I have other things I care to Blossoming Defense more then a lizard. Sadly a simple Abrade or Lightning Strike will kill my Greenwheel Liberator but that's when an extra Blossoming Defense comes to care.Fatal Push kills my Greenbelt Rampager, Steel Leaf Champion, (with revolt) and my Greenwheel Liberator so that's a Blossoming Defense counter right there, However, Ixalan's Bindings and Hostage Takers are my No. 1 problem and I will be out of Blossoming Defense before stopping them from taking up a Ghalta, Primal Hunger or Steel Leaf Champion (that one is scary under a Hostage Taker). So help in that section would be appreciated. Now Rhonas is always good because 1. Indestructable means it's gonna be hard to kill 2. It's abilty will buff a creature while keeping Ghalta's cost about the same 3. Whether it can attack or block (it normaly can) it is still a creture with 5 power and that's 5 less mana ghalta needs to get off of his lazy (tail?) to then turn side-a-ways and "punchy punchy" he goes. (You would think an ELDER DINOSAUR would have haste!)
