"Mono-Green" Gruul - Mana Ramp / Devotion

Modern Ramp RG (Gruul)

galzzly

My "mono-green" deck that I play when hanging out with friends.

It's a simple mana ramp deck with some inspiration from devotion to generate a large amount of mana and board pressence. It splashes a small amount of red to use Kessig Wolf Run and to take advantage of additional red planewalkers and spells.

Card Explanation

Llanowar Elves = A basic mana creature.

Arbor Elf = A basic mana creature who gains more utility with Utopia Sprawl.

Elvish Archdruid = There are a total of 12 elves in this deck (when including all the archdruids), so why not gain additional value with large mana and buffing them when needed to go face.

Utopia Sprawl = Make my lands a little more utility.

Primeval Titan = He finds lands we need. He can fetch our Kessig Wolf Run to strike next turn or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to greatly increase our mana.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx = A lot of mana.

Garruk Wildspeaker = Untapping two lands can provide a lot of additional mana when those lands are Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx or a land with Utopia Sprawl. Plus, his ultimate is real easy to get to and can win the game with a reasonable board.

Xenagos, the Reveler = Adds mana based off the creatures we control while also providing the option to make more creatures.

Khalni Hydra = Very rarely is this guy an 8 mana 8/8. More likely he's coming down for 3 or even 4 mana, and always right after Primalcrux to boost its damage through the roof.

Primalcrux = When it's alone, it's still a 6/6 trample. With just one hydra, it's a 14/14. A serious power house while also providing 6 mana through Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

Vigor = Adds 3 green devotion, but also protects all the weaker creatures on the board, making sure the devotion count doesn't drop.

Wolfbriar Elemental = Makes A LOT of tokens.

Bonfire of the Damned = either you can deal lethal, or you can deal enough damage to ruin their board.

Kessig Wolf Run = Turns all the mana into raw damage that's guaranteed to get through thanks to trample.

Garruk, Primal Hunter = Puts a decent creature on the board, but his primary utility is drawing a lot of cards with his minus. The amount he draws can easily be adjusted with the help of Kessig Wolf Run.

Domri Rade = With 21 creatures in the deck, his +1 basically reads, "Draw a card." his -2 helps with removal, and the game ends if he gets his ultimate.

Primal Command = Just simple Utility. Sometimes you need just one extra turn, and the 7 life can give you that. Can stall a player by putting a land back on top of their library. Also finds a creature we need.

Shamanic Revelation = a large amount of card draw.
