I built this deck around the power of Crypt Rats and Pestilence. Both are powerful board sweepers and can deal massive amounts of damage to your opponent. In this deck, you should be able to repeatedly use them to control the board and help kill your opponent.

Early in the game, you want to use your removal to control the board and build up your mana. If you need to, you can use Vampiric Link on an opponent's creature early as psuedo-removal since you will gain life for each damage the creature deals. Be careful because due to the wording of this card, if the creature's attack will take your life to zero, you will lose the game before you gain the life back. (When you get a chance to sweep the board with Crypt Rats or Pestilence, you will be able to permanently remove that creature anyway.)

Guardian Idol helps you ramp into your 4 casting cost spells on turn 3 or could let you play a Crypt Rats turn 3 with mana open to activate it for 1. When you play Pestilence with Guardian Idol in play, if your opponent kills the last creature in play to try to trigger the Pestilence end of turn sacrifice, you can use two mana to activate the Guardian Idol so you won't have to sacrifice Pestilence. Tendrils of Corruption and Corrupt can be used to kill creatures, but also will keep your life total healthy.

Pristine Talisman ramps your mana as well as repeatedly gains you life so you can stay ahead of the damage race since both of you will be taking damage from Crypt Rats and Pestilence. The mana from Pristine Talisman and Guardian Idol can help you pay for the colorless mana cost of Pestilence and Crypt Rats so you keep your black mana available for immediate activation. The mana ramp artifacts also help you cast your higher cost spells earlier, Guardian Idol activations, and help pay for the flashback cost of Chainer's Edict.

If have a hand full of spells but you are having trouble finding land early on, another way to build up your mana is to use the Swampcycle ability of Twisted Abomination to search your library for a Witch's Cottage, then use the Witch's Cottage to put Twisted Abomination back on top of your library to do it again next turn. This ensures you will hit your land drops every turn for several turns.

Although I mentioned using Vampiric Link as early removal, the better use of Vampiric Link is on either Twisted Abomination or Crypt Rats. Obviously, a 5/3 regenerator will be able to keep gaining you life even if they chump block. If you put the Vampiric Link on Crypt Rats, the point is not just to gain 1 life if it deals combat damage; if you activate its "X" ability to deal X damage to all creatures and players, you gain life for ALL damage that it dealt, including to itself. This combo can result in quite a lot of lifegain if there are multiple creatures in play! When the Crypt Rats dies, you can re-use it by using Witch's Cottage to put it on top of your library.

Having a Pestilence in play with a Thorn of the Black Rose or Twisted Abomination in play lets you activate the Pestilence for two damage a turn (both on your turn and your opponents turn). This lets you kill all of your opponent's X/2 creatures without losing your Pestilence. However, keep in mind Twisted Abomination can regenerate if you want to activate Pestilence more than two times a turn. If you are ahead in life or have one or more Pristine Talisman in play to keep your life healthy, these combos can end the game quickly.

Enjoy!
