Maybeboard


The point of this deck is to sustain, while constantly whittling all opponents down. Well, it was, anyway. But now I'm shifting away from that and moving towards a more hard-hitting deck. The idea of this deck originally was to thrive in large commander games, by sustaining off everybody (primarily with "deal x damage to each opponent, and gain that much life" types of cards), without drawing too much heat upon yourself (since most pings were for only 1 damage). But to make it more suitable for 1v1 EDH games, and just to make it a bit stronger overall, I'm shifting towards a little bit more token generation and graveyard play, along with building up strong attacks, as opposed to tiny hits every turn focused on lifelink.

Edit #1: I've been looking into some larger (and inherently more powerful) creatures recently, and there were quite a many that caught my interest. So for a while henceforth, I will be experimenting a lot with different creatures that are currently in the limbo of my maybeboard, to see which ones will make the final cut; this includes swapping in and out many creature cards until I can find the deck's perfect balance of powerful creatures and average CMC. I can't have that running too high, you know? I will also be playing around a bit with how many of each card-type I want in the deck, with instants and sorceries most likely seeing most of the cutbacks to make room for more creatures (that I can ultimately dump in my graveyard anyways). Overall, I don't want this deck to be solely based off of lifestealing and slowly poking everyone to death, so this time will most importantly be used to help me figure out exactly how I want this deck to function as a whole: in an actually viable manner.

Edit #2 I've come to the conclusion that Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath is not the ideal commander for what this deck has become. But so I don't miss Ob Nixilis too much, I've decided to go with Ob Nixilis, Unshackled as my new commander. I'm less concerned with his searching libraries effect, but more so his +1/+1 effect; it should work quite nicely with all of the killing and sacrificing I plan to do. And then as far as the rest of the deck goes, I've been constantly substituting out (mostly creature) cards to get rid of any worthless stragglers and to create a better balance of weak and strong (at least in terms of CMC). Also, I've made some changes to my enchantments to make the whole lot even more disgusting to play against!

Disclaimer: I'm not super experienced when it comes to deck-building currently. I've been playing for a while now, so I have a fine grasp over the game itself, but I'm still learning plenty of new cards and combos everyday. I've worked on a few, rather simple decks, but this is the first seriously in-depth one I've worked on. So as I continue you to tweak this deck, any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
