Abstract

As the name states, the core of the deck is a 8-Rack with {B} Devotion tweak. The plan is to limit our enemy options with discard fodder Yarok's Fenlurker and punish for drawing cards Underworld Dreams. Once they're weak enough we cast Gray Merchant of Asphodel for lethal.

Strategy

First drops guarantee us some defense and limit our enemy possibilities to minimum: Tymaret, Chosen from Death and all discard suite (from Vicious Rumors to Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage; Agonizing Remorse for targeted discard and graveyard exile). Next, we build our devotion (Yarok's Fenlurker, Ayara, First of Locthwain) and start punishing for card draw with Underworld Dreams. Finally, we deal direct damage with Gray Merchant of Asphodel's ETB. It can hit hard with cards like Deathless Knight on board (it counts for 4x{B} devotion!)

Last but not least, 2x remarks that might shouldn't be missed here:

• Foreboding Fruit has ability to target the player to draw cards. It can finish off our opponent when there're 2x Underworld Dreams on the battlefield!

• There's good amount of lifegain in the deck. It enables aggro survival and Deathless Knight returns if needed

Matchups

• Cry of the Carnarium and Vampire of the Dire Moon against aggro decks

• Ritual of Soot for go-wide

• Pharika's Libation and Murderous Rider for combo decks to remove their key parts

• Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted against other Control to play at my pace
