Budget Version: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/modern-flash-oketras-monument-budget-version/

I cut cryptic and a land to bring the two auriok champions to main board. I also switched Opt back for Serum Visions.

12/19/17: I changed the deck a lot and took it to the monday tournament. Went 2-1 and was pretty happy with the results as I did not go to time all three rounds.

First round vs Mono Red Prison (Free Win Red). (2-1) Game 1 he played Blood Moon on turn 1 and I didn't do anything all game. Game 2 and 3 he stalled a bit and I was able to take him down. I side boarded a couple detention spheres just for this matchup and they worked great to get rid of ensnaring bridge and swing for lethal.

Second round vs Abzan Midrange. (0-2) I wasn't super familiar with this matchup and made some mistakes. He ulted Lili even though I could have stopped her.

Third round vs 5C Deaths Shadow. (2-1) He took the play and had the best start his deck can possibly have. On turn 3 I played a Monument since I was pretty sure he didnt have lethal. He took me to 5 health but I top decked a Path that I was able to cast twice with snapcaster as well as get the free blocker for his third creature. I took over from there. Game two I didnt hit leyline and he ripped apart my hand. Game three I hit leyline followed up rest in peace.

12/6/17: I took another deck to my LGS and won the tournament going 4-0. Check it out:

11/28/17: 0-1-1 and dropped. I went against 5-color Death Shadow in round one, winning game 1 and then didnt see any of my 10 sideboard cards in game 2 and only one of them in game 3. I have since gotten ahold of two more Leylines of Sanctity which is going to help immensely. Next round I went against a Jund deck, winning the first round and losing the 2nd. We did not have time for a third.

I am getting kind of tired of this deck going to time so often. The worst part of the tournament experience is definitely the time limits.

11/21/17: 3-0 last night at Modern Monday. 5C Humans, Merfolk, ad Eldrazi and Taxes. There were only 9 people in the tournament and there ended up being another 3-0 player. There was not a fourth round unfortunately, so we played a match afterwards. He was on 5 color Deaths Shadow and I won game one but we didn't have time for game 2.

I am starting to think about cutting the Wall of Omens. Occasionally its a great card, but I'd really love to fit in other more consistent cards into the deck. I'm thinking another snap, 2 more lands, and maybe another cryptic.

I want to point out how much the soul wardens and auriok champion make this deck win. I have won so many games that seemed lost for sure because of the life gain. The Monument/Whitemane/Warden combo is pretty sick.

11/14/17: 3-1 against Ramunap U/R (0-2), Burn (2-0), Infect (2-0), and Merfolk (2-1).

Someone at the shop had some fun making a janky ramunap deck that discarded lands to do 2 dmg with a weird enchantment. Turns out I didn't have many answers since you cant counter those. I also made about 4 mistakes in the 2nd game which likely cost me the match.

I added a Detention Sphere and a Celestial Purge to the SB this week which did well. I think the SB will be ever evolving depending on my local meta, so make sure you adjust to yours as well. I also added in some more basic lands because of Blood Moon becoming more popular.

11/7/17: 2-1 against 5-color Humans (2-1), Esper Control (2-0) and Merfolk (0-2).

Going into the final round the Merfolk player and I were the only undefeated. He took the play and had an aether vial turn 1 followed up with a lot of creatures. I made a mistake that could have had me last a bit longer while digging for a board wipe, but it was probably a loss regardless. 2nd game I kept a 2 land hand and 2 board wipes and didn't find the other land. He had lethal on turn 5. Overall I think I lost due to poor play/mulligans and not because the deck didn't have the ability to win.

18-3-1 now locally with this deck. I made a few changes this time around. I cut Dusk/Dawn for more reliable Verdict in the main. I added in another RIP, another Grafdigger, and a Surgical extraction into the SB while cutting Pithing Needle and Thalia.

10/31/17: I went 3-1 and tied for first again. I also beat the only 3-0 player in the final around again. It was burn again. I also suffered my first true loss, getting blown out by Counters Company. I think I may sideboard more Grafdigger Cages since that deck crutches so much on Chord and CoCo. It's worth noting the pilot is probably the best player at my LGS as well.

My matches were 1st game 5-Color Humans Company (2-0) (basically the 5-color human deck that is getting popular now except instead of Aether Vial he plays CoCo), 2nd game Counters Company (0-2), 3rd game was a bye/opponent conceded as the round started, 4th game Burn (2-0).

I don't think I've lost a game vs Burn yet, online or in person. I'm thinking of main boarding just 3 supreme verdicts for reliable board wipe and keep the 1 settle and 1 dusk/dawn to the SB.

10/24/17: After winning all 3 local modern mini-tournaments that I brought this deck to, I finally had my first loss and went 3-1. I tied for first as there was not a 4-0 player, and I was matched against the only 3-0 player in the last round and won fairly easily. Matchups were Merfolk (1-2), 4-color Humans (2-1), Naya Burn (2-0), and Mono Red Burn (2-0). Versus the merfolk player I got greedy and made a huge misplay by not board wiping, forgetting that he had the ability to tap down my permanents, or else I believe that was a win as well.

I am going to make some big edits to the deck by cutting Avens and Settle, as they are easily the least impressive cards in the deck. Every now and then stopping your opponent from getting land is handy, but most of the time I find myself wishing I had other cards and I usually sideboard them out. For the 5 slots I am thinking Dusk/Dawn x3, another Land, and a Snapcaster, but I am open to suggestions. It's also worth noting that this week I took out the Reflector mages in order to stick in 2 Soul Wardens and 1 Auriok Champion which has been much needed life gain that synergizes extremely well with the Whitemane Lion/Monument combo.

I am now 13-1-1 in local competitive play, and the deck is getting a lot of attention at my LGS. I believe with further refining the deck could become a serious competitive deck. I am still hovering around 80% win rate online with it as well.

10/17/17: Last night I went 4-0 vs Merfolk x2, Esper Control, and Burn.

I am so impressed with this deck. The only thing I feel it lacks is life gain, but winning against Tier 1 Burn 2-0 still happened. This week I replaced an Aven Mindcensor with an Ephara which is crazy good with Whitemane Lion, but lackluster when you dont have creatures to play every turn.

I am 10-0-1 with it now locally and have a win rate around 80% online.

10/10/17: I have won Modern at my LGS both times I've brought this deck now. It has been super fun and super impressive. It catches my opponents off guard a lot. When I can afford it I might try out a couple snaps and a couple more cryptics instead of the Aven Mindcensors, but until then Avens have been performing really well.

Thanks for all the positive comments from Reddit. Feel free to try out anything in the Maybeboard as there are a decent amount of flex cards in the deck (settle the wreckage, aven mindcensor, cryptic command) Here are some of the notes from the thread:

The Deck really wants to have Oketra's monument out to do lots of things, but rarely is it a good idea to play on turn 3. I find it best played when I have the mana to able to do other things as well. When it's out you can get 1 token for every white mana you have via Whitemane Lion which is really strong, but you can also bounce things to your hand like Spell Queller when removal is cast on it and then immediately re-quell whatever it originally exiled.

Aven Mindcensor to keep your opponents off lands with PtE, GQ, and the new Settle the Wreckage.

Spellstutter Sprite is a surprising all-star in the deck, and even though you don't get to cast her for 1 with monument since she's blue you still get the warrior token. She is another target for whitemane to recast but also a great target for Restoration Angel for that instant counter.

Restoration Angel has lots of targets, and even though if she bounces Spell Queller it won't be able to re-exile the spell it was exiling it can still come in handy to bounce Spell Queller a lot of the time. Reflector Mage is probably the best target for Resto, but Wall of Omens or anything that has removal being cast on it is always a good target too.

This is my first time playing a deck with Serum Visions and I have to say the card is just a must. It helps find Oketra's monument and helps scry away the other 2 once you have one out.

I've only played the deck about 20 times, but so far it does well vs Affinity and Ad Nasaeum. I have my sincere doubts on any chance vs Tron (GQ early or bust), but its not an issue for me since my LGS doesnt play it

Aven Mindcensor is a flash white creature that keeps my opponents off lands. It's not 100% needed in the deck and definitely a flex slot. My local meta plays a lot of fetch lands so it's pretty good.

My experience with sky hussar with my other oketra deck has been very disappointing. It's a win harder card in my experience, because generally if I actually have 2 creatures out that can be afforded to be tapped instead of needing to block with them that means i'm already winning. It's also awful when you get it early. I think Sky Hussar is best played in a deck with 1 drops like mausoleum wanderer and judge's familiar

Flickerwisp is in my maybeboard as a 3 of because it used to be in the main deck, but i was disappointed with it's performance. It doesn't flicker things instantly which is what I generally want to happen in the deck. For example, flicking a reflector mage, spellstutter, or even spell queller does something significant when done with a Resto Angel or the pseudo instant affect with whitemane lion, but doesnt help if its coming back at end step. The lack of flash on Flickerwisp also made it unappealing. The card is good with Aethervial which this deck doesnt run. I originally built the deck around the idea that Oketra's Monument is a substitute for Aethervial and then played around that idea.

That being said, feel free to play around with flickerwisp instead of aven mind censor and let me know what you think. In my experience it just didn't do what I wanted the deck to do.
