hello boys and girls of the magic community. here i have the deck the modern event deck wants to be. I have gotten inspiration from many sources, Swarm and Conquer V 2.0, Caleb Durwand and Craig Wescoe build suring Return to Ravnica Pro Tour, and the Black White Tokens Primer. Ihope to run this at local FNM and GP at end of this month. thoughts and suggestions welcome.

I have been wanting to join Modern for a while. I played Standard for half a year (started playing MTG when Theros was released), and played Red Green Devotion. It was a very fast and aggressive deck. Once the Modern Event Deck was released I thought I could make a solid deck for tournament play. After a few weeks of browsing the internet I came up with this build. I am going to test this in competitive play and Grand Prix Worchester/Boston.

Here is the Breakdown of my Deck!

Creatures

 photo imagejpg2_zpsad6fabe0.jpg

Hero of Bladehold- hero is a crucial card to hit on turn four. By turn five, hero effects the game by turn five more than elspeth or sorin could. That is why hero is at two instead of one as our other planes walkers are.

Tidehollow Sculler- there for more disruption against aggressive decks. Futile against control because it eats a bolt

Token Generators

Raise the Alarm- this card helps us play control in case we are losing the race and need blockers after a swing

Lingering Souls- Lingering Souls is a very powerful card in this deck because it can effect the game even when it is in the graveyard. But you probably already knew that.....

Spectral Procession- we have this card in here for more spirit tokens and evasion monsters. This card helps us get three creatures to attack and activate Windbrisk Heights.

Anthem

 photo imagejpg3_zps4472eaca.jpg

Honor of the Pure - Honor is our flagship anthem. Every creature/token benefits. Makes Hero of Bladehold bash in for ten

Zealous Persecution -on of the best cards. Shuts down affinity and mirror

Disruption/Removal

 photo imagejpg1_zps52752d16.jpg

Thoughtseize- probably the best card in the deck. We get to stop what the opponent wants to do so we can set up our tokens for a late game sweep

Inquisition of Kozilek- Inquisition is here as our fifth and sixth Thoughtseize

Path to Exile- Path to Exile is the only removal in the deck and gets rid of the majority of threats with a small drawback.

Lands

 photo imagejpg4_zpsccd42064.jpg

Windbrisk Heights- our only Land Spell. We usually hope to hit an anthem, Spectral Procession, or a Planeswalker.

Marsh Flats- Our Black/White Fetchland

Godless Shrine- Our Black/White Fetchland

Arid Mesa- a second set of Fetchlands to thin the Deck

Vault of the Archangel- Vault often makes our tokens a death squad with the added bonus of gaining life.

Sacred Foundry-to be fetched for Slaughter Games

Fetid Heath-Helps us cast Spectral Procession

SideBoard

Aven Mindcensor- Gives us a fighting chance against Pod

Leyline of Sanctity- stops Storm, And Jund

Runed Halo- multi tool in the Sideboard

Torpor Orb- shut down alot of creature oriented strategies

Stony Silence- against Affinity

Slaughter Games- Helps us against Combo based decks

Updates Add

Well that FNM didnt do so well. Tries Craig Wescoe's latest build with four Mirran Crusaders. Only worked good against Golgari Jund. Found out i should just run a good disruption ackage and focus of anthems and token generaters to overwhelm in Game one where i lose the majority of the time. If i can win Game one, i find i side really well and almost always win game two because the sideboard has all the answers, therefore i can usually pull the 2-0 because Game three is a bitch
