I've been a Bant player in standard since Innistrad/Return to Ravinca were legal and I'm finally bringing my own Bant brew in with my first Modern deck! Any thoughts / comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
Since I'm still new to modern, this will not be a Tier 1-type deck, however this is what I feel like playing. I'm still up in the air about the sideboard, but have put this together with one of my friends that plays Modern quiet frequently.
The main idea behind this deck is that it is an aggressive G/W creature based deck that splashes blue for a little bit of utility and Geist of Saint Traft. Since most of the creatures contain white, Brave the Elements turns out to be a very powerful offensive / defensive support spell.
Birds of Paradise and Noble Hierarch both allow me to play ahead of the curve.
Possible turn 4 kill is possible
Turn 1 - Land + Noble Hierarch
Turn 2 - Land + Geist of Saint Traft
Turn 3 - Land + Elspeth, Knight-Errant. Give +3/+3 and flying to Geist of Saint Traft and attack, triggering exalted. Geist deals 6 damage in the air + 4 from the angel token.
Turn 4 - Anything. Attack with Geist of Saint Traft again and win.
I am still working on getting my sideboard together since Torpor Orb and Thrun, the Last Troll are notoriously difficult to find around my area. I've taken this to play in a few casual games vs Splinter Twin and didn't end up too badly if I was able to keep removal / bounce in my hand.
