Description

v 1.0

Another Modern viable Mill deck thanks to the new Hour of Devistation card: Fraying Sanity.

Utilizing Mesmeric Orb, Manic Scribe with Delirium (to make use of the self-milled cards through Orb), and Hedron Crab (used with Oboro, Palace in the Clouds and Polluted Delta), this static-mill strategy, works exponentially faster while backed by a disruption foundation.

Direct mill spells include: Archive Trap , which can be triggered easily with Ghost Quarter;

and Traumatize; a card that, up until the release of Fraying Sanity, was a useless card in the mill archetype. It is now a lethal, 5-cost, 2-card combo

We can also include Manic Scribe in the Active Mill, because of its ETB effect.

Now that the mill is established, let's run some disruption!!

Mana Leak a hard counter unless additional mana is paid.

With Remand, the target spell isn't countered entirely, but is fantastic early disruption, and it replaces itself.

In either case, Mesmeric Orb offers little incentive for your opponent to be tapping more permanents to make sure the spell gets played.

Same is the case for Silent Departure and AEtherize; bouncing baddies, and offering the chance to recast, with the punishment of more milling for such persistence.

Logic Knot , is also a hard counter to utilize some of the cards self milled through Orb.

I will clean up, add to, and improve this description as the deck becomes more complete.

Sphinx's Tutelage, a staple for any mill deck.

disarmingquartz- While I enjoy Tutelage, it just doesn't seem to fit here. Mainly for cost, but also I would have to remove my counters and removal for even 2 of them.I also don't have the amount of draw to fuel Tutelage to its maximum potential. Nice card, but probably better for a future deck similar to this.

Thanx for the feedback! Smash dat +1 if you like it!

AEtherspouts it costs one more than AEtherize but it leaves them in a predicament of putting stuff on top to get milled next turn or sending to the bottom to never be seen till the end of game.

Logic Knot also a good counterspell that can be relevant late game due to you have a decently sized GY from orbs

Mind Sculpt might be useful

Visions of Beyond everyone likes Ancestral Recall

frogkill45- Thanks for noticing the Logic Knot/Mesmeric Orb synergy! That's a big help! I even have a few lying around.. Somewhere...

As for AEtherspouts, it's powerful, and has its place; perhaps in the sideboard. For now, I'm going to stick with AEtherize, as it gives the opponent an opportunity to sabotage themselves with Orb in play when they tap land to recast their creatures. I admit, a bit reckless on my part, but that's the synergistic flavor that I like in a deck.

Mind Sculpt is an underrated card in my book. I prefer it over Tome Scour, and it makes a great budget Breaking in a budget turbo mill deck; but here I've opted for more of a disruption based strategy to support an increasingly steady mill based offense in leu of an instant mill approach. It was considered, but later nixed for counters.

I do find card draw a bit scarce in the deck. Two Visions of Beyond should suffice, being that it may take a minnit to get to GY20, should the deck misfire.

Thanks for the input!! Check back for the update in a few hours!

if youre looking for an answer to emrakul in blue try using Trickbind it counters his triggered ability of the reshuffle and its split second so it cant be countered.

and for ways around Leyline of Sanctity in blue your best bet is Set Adrift for actually being able to get rid of it. Echoing Truth puts it back in the hand for them to recast so its not a true answer unless you can mill the entire deck while its in the hand

frogkill45- again, you have been invaluable to my sideboard!

Thanks for your advice!
