Maybeboard

Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist

This version of Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist is a completely different version from the pre-built deck. Opting to throw Voltron out the window and focus on flooding the board with creatures and tokens. The idea of course being to swing wide with Mirri and overrun your opponents with creatures they cannot block. Adding additional spells to buff your tokens means green and white weenies become big bad meanies.

We want Mirri to stay alive so let's look at her protection.

Protecting Mirri

  • Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are the obvious cards for any commander deck. Offering Haste, Hexproof and Shroud.
  • Sword of the Animist isn't protection per say but the extra +1/+1 boost helps. Plus since she will be attacking as much as possible she's the best creature to reap the benefit of this card's ability.
  • Heroic Intervention at instant speed is a great way to protect all your permanents from targeted spells as well as board wipes.
  • Shalai, Voice of Plenty is a creature that not only gives other creatures Hexproof but also gives it to you and Planeswalkwers you control.

2 Notable Cards to Mention

Out of the 23 creatures 11 of them are cats. 12 if you count Mirri. It's notable to mention this because when you cast Metallic Mimic , Adaptive Automaton , Urza's Incubator or Vanquisher's Banner 9 times out of 10 you will name cats. All 4 of these cards will allow you to cast cats faster, boost your other cats and help with card draw.

Additional Crew Members

  • Alms Collector has Flash which is a perfect mechanic in itself. With Flash you can surprise those opponents who love to draw tons of cards. Making sure they share the wealth because of his ability.
  • Hungry Lynx Cats you control have protection from Rats. Then at your end step you give an opponent a 1/1 Rat token. Meaning your opponents will be attacking each other and blocking with those rats. But the best part is when they die you put a +1/+1 counter on each Cat you control.
  • Jazal Goldmane is mainly here to buff your tokens when you want to swing wide.
  • Knight of Autumn is a new creature with 3 options for ETB effects. I mainly added her for the Artifact/Enchantment removal.
  • Leonin Arbiter makes me smile just thinking about this card. And opponents hate him. Granted this effects you as well so be careful.
  • Prowling Serpopard is the ugliest cat ever. But he cannot be countered and creature spells you cast cannot be countered. A must have in this deck.
  • Thalia, Heretic Cathar is another one of those cards that opponents hate. Causing creatures and nonbasic lands to enter tapped. Slowing your opponents while you move forward.
  • Wilt-Leaf Liege gives white and green creatures an extra +1/+1. Good for mono-colored creatures. Great for multi-colored creatures.

Token Generators

Fetch Ramp

There's no need to give individual explanations of these spells. If drawn early they will help build your mana base and thin your deck out. Allowing for the casting of larger spells or multiple spells earlier.

Card Draw

  • Beast Whisperer is a Fantastic new Elf to come out in Guilds of Ravnica. Allowing you to draw a card each time you cast a creature spell.
  • Tireless Tracker is one of the best cards to ever come out of Shadows over Innistrad. A 3 drop 3/2 he offers Clue tokens when a land enters the battlefield. Pay 2, crack a clue, draw a card. And he gets +1/+1 counters each time you crack a clue.
  • Harmonize is a solid 4 drop draw 3 cards.
  • Skullclamp belongs in this deck because you can attach it to a creature like Sakura-Tribe Elder and draw 2 cards when you sacrifice him or you can attach it to a token who is ready to die in battle.
  • Lifecrafter's Bestiary states at the beginning of your upkeep, scry 1. This is very beneficial. This card also allows you to pay 1 Green and draw a card whenever you cast a creature spell.

Other Important Cards to Mention

  • Doubling Season doubles the amount of counters put on creatures and the amount of tokens put on the battlefield. This deck does both.
  • Anointed Procession is basically Doubling Season without the added +1/+1 counters.
  • Divine Visitation turns any tokens put onto the battlefield into 4/4 Angels with Flying and Vigilance.
