Rewinding spells and eating brains. —Aug. 18, 2012

Replaced 2x Dissipate for 2x Rewind. Rewind is soo good I can counter a spell for then cast spells! My buddy suggested Undead Alchemist against aggro decks and I tested it out and it worked like a charm. He was able to give me blockers and helps fuel the discard theme. Going to put him in the sideboard for sure. Removed Downpour for Crippling Chill.

Too much white mana production just for Feeling of Dread ...

@Wahammy

The white mana is mostly for Fiend Hunter , he is very useful against creature decks. I'm going to put more white in because i want to run Entreat the Angels as an alt win con.

Terminus seems like an auto-include. Probably give you more value than the time walk.

I think you should go straight mill. Check it. 4x mindsculpt, 4x snapcaster, 4x restoration angel/cloudshift, phantasm, delver, talrand, elixir of immortality. Deff dig the bank of fogs too.

@HollowClyde

I want to add Ponder but it's rotating out in two months :-(

If you want the deck to be competitive just add Ponder . There's no use letting good decks like this one to not reach a higher potential just because a card is rotating out soon.... ~D.A.

I don't feel there's enough Mill here. If you miss Jace, Memory Adept or they take care of him after just a turn, then at best you can deck 62 cards. That's playing all your Mind Sculpt s and Snapping them back, and using all three Thought Scour s.

I agree with shaistyone that Terminus should be in here, and probably as a 3-4 of. Fog Bank is great, but it won't be able to stop a swarm of angry tokens. (And that's a very likely deck to start popping up, IMO)

You may also want to consider Increasing Confusion and maybe Dreadwaters . Also, Sands of Delirium is amazing in that after it's initial lameness and underwhelmingness it makes sure you never have left-over mana, especially after your hand starts drying up.

I play tested with Terminus and it worked pretty well! I didn't like Increasing Confusion or Sands of Delirium too much. I don't want to invest all my mana into mill. Thanks for all the advise guys!

August 2, 2012 9:11 p.m.

WHoa whoa wait! You didnt like Increasing Confusion ??!!!!!! That card is great in mill decks! What if you run out of cards in your hand and you need you opponent to mill those last couple cards?!!!! It flashbacks for its regular cost. Sands is just as good because you can do it as many times as you want! How is this supposed to be a mill deck with no BIG mill cards? You disappoint sir. The point is to mill and little control right? What else are you planning to use a large amount of mana for if not for X spells? ................

This. Took the words out of my mouth.

August 3, 2012 1:17 p.m.

lol @iOnlyUseBigGuns Really though! Its insanity!!!!! A mill deck with no mill?!! THERE'S NO HOPE FOR HUMANITY!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY lol

@iOnlyUseBigGuns

I just noticed the flashback wording on Increasing Confusion . That card is really good!

has this had a significant re-vamp since the first half of the comments? They are all talking about white mana and white cards, when I see all blue with a splash of black. Regardless, I'm going to +1 this because I enjoy mill decks a lot and appreciate seeing attempts to standardize straight-up mill

@heuertag

Yes it has. I did some playtest at FNM last night and decided to go with mono blue and it was very effective.

Not saying Nephalia Drownyard is a bad card, but you have to tap a total of four lands to get the same benefit Sands of Delirium gives you for three mana. And the Sands are more versatile.

VSmith says... #18

I agree with iOnlyUseBigGuns, I'd straighten the mana base and use Sands. If you ARE going to splash black, could I recommend Rise from the Grave. For 4B you get recur the biggest creature threat you've milled.

August 4, 2012 4:20 p.m.

m1rado says... #19

@ IOnlyUseBigGuns: Nephalia Drownyard 's strength is that it is a land and thus uncounterable. If you can drag the game out long enough, even if they have a grip full of counterspells and kill spells and mill spells, you have a land you can activate EoT to inexorably draw them closer to mill-town. This is especially powerful in control decks that can just Draw, Land, Go.

Spitlebug says... #20

More counters, put in Sands of Delirium. This deck will require more counters to stay afloat with only Fog Banks and Phantasms. Your other option is to replace the Phantasms with Snapcasters for faster card draw, counter and mill options. Gives a quick body to block as well.

August 4, 2012 9:59 p.m.

With aggro you're probably going to want to stall on a grander scale than countering. Devastation Tide of Sleep maybe?

I'm just not sure why the guy is so dead-set on avoiding certain cards, such as the Sands. It may not be the best against aggro, but mill isn't going to have a lot of answers for a set of Strangleroot Geist and Huntmaster of fells anyway =/

[I know but at least I can try :-) I will defiantly try out the sands again.

I've been using Crippling Chill and Sleep over counters in my mill deck although I went with a more aggro version. So far they've worked great!

I like it! fog bank seems really useful in this and flashing back some of your mill/protection spells with snapcaster. I might add Fog bank to my Mill deck but I wouldn't be sure what to remove. Play test it and let me know what you find out.

Also I'm kind of in a toss up about feeling of dread vs downpour. both are really useful

Comment on my deck and let me know what you think:http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/memory-lane/
