This is not merely your average zoo deck.

This an aggressive creature-based deck that is themed around gaining massive tempo advantages from mana producing creatures and comboing with threats.

Do you like aggressive and powerful creatures? Do you like overwhelming your opponents with those creatures? If so, then this deck is for you!

Blossoming Defense

Having a creature based win condition makes this deck particularly vulnerable to removal. Blossoming Defense is the solution to the numerous Lightning Bolt s, Path to Exile s, and Fatal Push s that populate the modern format. This card's utility goes beyond counteracting traditional, single target removal. The additional stats Blossoming Defense provides further protection against board wipes, creature combat, and miscellaneous target effects.

Burning-Tree Emissary

A powerful creature and the keystone to the design of the deck. With a focus on throwing as many creature stats onto the battlefield as possible, this two drop allows for very explosive turns. Being able to cast multiple spells on turn two creates an incredibly strong board state that provides too much momentum for opponents to keep up with. As well as being a powerful tempo piece, Burning-Tree Emissary is the enabler for the more potent combos of the deck. It produces creature mana for Myr Superion and meets the color condition for Talara's Battalion .

Collected Company

Contributing to the explosive power this deck has, Collected Company creates massive tempo advantages by cheating creatures onto the battlefield. Collected Company 's ability to choose specific creatures is useful for enabling combos. Aside from working around the casting limitations of Myr Superion and Talara's Battalion , mana producers can be selected to Mana fix.

Experiment One

Consistent stat growth and survivability are what make Experiment One such a potent one-drop. The evolve triggers reliably create Experiment One a 3/3 due to the amount of creatures with sizable stats. Depending on variance, this human-ooze hybrid has the potential to become unmanageable for opponents.

Goblin Guide

Goblin Guide secures its spot because of the speed it brings. A 2/2 body with haste for one mana provides a consistent source of damage that can be initiated as early as turn one. The additional text attached to Goblin Guide is meant to be a downside to balance its power. However, this downside often acts as an advantage. Even though it has the potential to draw opponents cards, the on attack effect grants information on the their hands. By revealing the card an opponent will most likely draw, Goblin Guide can effect how entire games can go.

Lightning Bolt

Combine efficiency, versatility, and potency and the result is Lightning Bolt . When it comes to practicality, there are few cards that are on the same level as bolt. Lightning Bolt is primarily used as a board control tool in this deck. However, its ability to deal direct damage to opponents is extremely effective at finishing them off and maneuvering around situations in which attacking with creatures is not viable.

Myr Superion

The primary combo target for the mana producing creatures is also the largest creature played in the deck.

ATTENTION: As with all sideboards, this one is tuned for the meta in my play group. Sideboards vary based on the decks that are being played by your opponents. Therefore, your sideboard may look quite different from the one shown. This list is simply here to provide examples of how to counter the decks that I run into in the modern format.

General Strategy

Being a creature based deck, the main win condition of this deck is to use an overwhelming amount of creatures to attack the opponent. This is generally achieved by playing many creatures in a short amount of time. The best case scenario is to dominate the early game and win in the mid game. Going into the late game is not this deck's specialty, but does have some measures to secure the win.

Against Aggressive Decks

Being an aggressive deck, this deck will be battling for early game board control. Once the opponent is unable to keep up with the massive tempo this deck can lay down, victory should be fairly easy. The win condition against aggressive decks should be overwhelming them. It should be noted that this deck needs to be incredibly fast against burn.

Against Midrange Decks

The strategy against midrange decks remains pretty much the same as the general strategy. This deck wants to flood the board with as many creatures as possible while still out valuing the opponents plays. Unlike other aggressive decks, this deck does not need to worry about the control side of midrange because midrnge decks fall too far behind on tempo. Denying midrange decks the ability to out value aggression is the best way to ensure an effective board flood.

Against Control Decks

This deck will have to rely on it's sideboard against control decks. Depending on draws and the opponent's deck, it can be very difficult to get creatures to stay on the board. The best way to play against this is to be as aggressive as possible. The goal is to be in a winning position before control decks have enough mana to get out their threats or wipe the board. The sideboard is very important in these matchups.
