List of all pertinent spot removal AND counterspells in EDH.

What this includes:

  • Spells that move either at least a creature or at least your choice of an artifact or enchantment for 3 mana or less, either at instant speed or as an aura that can turn a commander into a land/indestructible creature without their abilities (auras like this are known as "Neo-Tuck").
  • Instants and permanents with flash that can make it so that an instant or sorcery doesn't resolve by being countered or exiled.
  • Instants and permanents with flash without green or white that can make it so that an enchantment spell doesn't resolve by being countered or exiled or that an enchantment on the board is sacrificed, destroyed, or exiled.
  • Instants and permanents with flash without red, green, or white that can make it so that an artifact doesn't resolve by being countered or exiled or that an artifact on the board is sacrificed, destroyed, or exiled.

What this doesn't include:

  • Cards that only remove creatures not of a specific color, except when it can also remove an artifact or enchantment, when it can be cast for free, or when it can target two creatures.
  • "Neo-Tuck" cards that don't turn the enchanted permanent into a land or indestructible permanent. Otherwise, spot removal or board wipes can reset the commander back into the command zone.
  • Spot Removal that put you at the highest disadvantage, such as Oblation.
  • Permanents without flash that can counter spells, because they act more as preventative measures that stop opponents from wanting to cast particular cards
  • Counterspells that cost more than 2 mana
  • Counterspells that can only counter spells unless their controller pays some amount of mana or life
  • Counterspells that can only counter spells of a particular color, unless they can also answer permanents (even if only of that color)
  • Counterspells that only counter spells that target you/a permanent you control
  • Counterspells that only counter spells with very specific requirements, such as being kicked (Ertai's Trickery), being cast without having any mana paid (Nix), or being controlled by a player with a poison counter (Corrupted Resolve)
  • Counterspells that can only counter spells based on you having a particular board state of nonland permanents or of cards in your hand, such as in the case of Dispersal Shield
  • Counterspells that require you to discard cards as an additional cost, unless the card can be cast without paying any mana
