I'm still rather new to MTG, but here, I did a thing. This is my current working deck, initially it was a mix of Marionette Master and Metallurgic Summonings. Which was lovely when I was able to get to late game. However, ever since the Aether Revolt Tezzeret the Schemer spoiler was released I had my eyes on him and lo' and behold, I've crafted... something.
The main aim is to have at least one Contraband Kingpin down early as a wall (as well as for scrying) and to play Tezzeret the Schemer on turn 4, while having the Metalspinner's Puzzleknot out. From there, to protect him with the walls while ramping up and using the Etherium cells to improvise where needed (or the -2 to destroy enemy creatures where needed). At turn seven, if there's been no real resistance, there should be 3 pre-existing etherium cells and (at least) one Metalspinner's Puzzleknot on the battlefield as well as a Marionette Master (Fabricated to 4/6). Using Tezzeret the Schemer's -2 to +X/-X on the Marionette Master for a total of 8/2, you then sacrifice the three etherium cells (for the three mana) to sacrifice the/a Marionette Master, dealing 32 points of damage in the process. Even with a Disallow on the trigger ability of the Marionette Master or the activated ability of the Metalspinner's Puzzleknot, they can only stop one of the four sources of 8 damage going through, still lethal.
Obviously this isn't Magical Christmas Land, the deck has little in the way of creatures, hence the myriad of kill spells to keep things at bay, and the improvise to give extra value to the etherium cells and puzzleknots. There's also a delicate balance required with the amount of artefacts that you pull onto the battlefield. Too many, and you'll simply kill the Marionette.
I'd be curious as to feedback, the Maybeboard is mainly things I can see working but haven't yet done proxies to test.
- Added Scrapheap Scrounger's into the main deck as in some play testing it added an extra level of flexibility and early-game pressure, which was still sorely needed.
