Introduction

In this deck Meren is used for her ability to bring back cards from the card either so they trigger a "When this card enters the battlefield..." ability or its "Sacrifice this card..." ability. Then these creatures are brought right back from the graveyard at your next end step or in other ways. You may notice many of these cards are from the normal "Plunder the Graves" box set. However there are a few, slightly more expensive upgrades.

Key Upgrades Include:

Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos - Good for making opponents sacrifice creatures with you, especially in the early stages of the game

Attrition - Good if you have one creature that is really bothering you (usually the commander) to destroy and get it off the battlefield even if it is just for that turn.

Garruk, Apex Predator - His +1 ability is good for getting creatures to sacrifice. His -5 is good if you are losing a lot of life or need to get rid of a pesky creature. His -8 is good for getting that final blow in to swing with all your creatures when your opponent is at his weakest.

Avatar of Woe - Used for its ability to tap and destroy a creature, whether it be yours or your opponent's creature

Contamination - This one is good mid-game if you have a lot of your main creatures on the battlefield to really lock down the game. Also using Garruk's +1 ability and Mycoloth's devour ability is good for the "Sacrifice a creature" part of the card

Buried Alive - This card is really helpful for getting exactly what you need onto the battlefield and can be brought back using Meren's ability. This card, followed by Contamination could be a game-ender

Spore Frog - This cheap little guy is good to sacrifice and nullify an opponent's combat damage and then bring him back at your next upkeep to use again and again

Nim Deathmantle - If one of your key creatures is killed, this is good for getting him back right away back to the battlefield

Eternal Witness - Pretty self explanatory, sacrifice it and bring it back and get cards back from your graveyard.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel - Another card to keep sacrificing and bringing back to drain your opponent and benefit yourself

Deadbridge Chant - It already gives you a good amount of experience counters and now you can bring back two creatures every turn

Black Market - After sacrificing all these creatures this card helps you get benefits from their deaths

Vraska, Relic Seeker - +2 good for getting blockers or creatures to sacrifice, -3 good for getting rid anything that might jeopardize your chances of winning the game (also, pairs well with Revel in Riches), -10 if you don't understand why this is good there is a problem, just use this ability and swing with your creatures

Revel in Riches - Throughout this deck there are many cards that make your opponents sacrifice creatures (Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, etc,) this card lets you use that even more to your advantage and, if not already, put the spotlight on you and a clock on your opponents

Liliana, Heretical Healer   - There in a lot that this card can be used for. For starters it is a creature so it can be used with Buried Alive and cards like it. And it can be resurrected by Meren after it dies. Its +1 is good for getting the experience counters up, or you could use it strategically by putting a creature in you graveyard and bringing it to the battlefield with Meren. It's -X, pretty straightforward, bring back a creature that you desperately need. The -8 Obvious game changer, note that this is not just your creatures, it is all creatures, Now just take a minute and imagine this with Grave Pact.

Future Cards

A couple other cards that I would like to add are Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Sheoldred, Whispering One. Mikaeus is good for creatures with sacrifice abilities or "When this card enters the battlefield abilities to trigger them twice, like Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Thragtusk. Sheoldred is good since there will be a lot of things in your graveyard to get back while simultaneously slowly getting rid of your opponent's creatures and potential blockers. Also Protean Hulk, Dauthi Voidwalker, and Cankerbloom.

Conclusion

Welp, thank you for checking out this deck, I hope you liked and please upvote it. Feel free to look at my other decks and upvote them. Personal favorites are Edgar Markov and his Jacked Up Family and Odric, Fire Marshal. Thanks and I will see you next time.

*Note: if you buy the "Plunder the Graves" pre-built deck you can save a lot of money on cards.
