Latest changes // New additions —June 12, 2019

I've been running and testing this deck as usual, and at our last FNM we came up the goods, winning one, and losing one: The loss came at the hands of an Ilharg, the Raze-Boar deck who was simply too fast, and our win came the very next game, where we cast a Chance for Glory and managed to score the knock out blow to a board state fully tapped out. Both games versus: Animar, Soul of Elements, Ilharg, the Raze-Boar and Breya, Etherium Shaper.

Nissa, Vital Force replacing Creeping Renaissance. I have never, ever really had value for renaissance, and whenever I had it in hand, there always felt like a better option. Nissa also offers card draw and more flexibility, and a relatively easy (and powerful) ultimate.

Nullhide Ferox replacing Deceiver of Form. Well, it was a fun experiment while it lasted, but it never really got cooking the way I wanted it too. Ferox, on the other hand, offers a big body with evasion, and it helps lower the mana curve.

Polukranos, World Eater coming in for Benefactor's Draught. Draught too weak, and Poly K is back baby!! We have missed his low CMC and ability to pressure board states. With Nikya of the Old Ways now in the deck, Poly K should have increased potency.

God-Eternal Rhonas substituting Dubious Challenge Challenge is a little bit too much risk, and not enough amazing. Rhonas should help power up the battle cruiser plan and make us even more effective in combat. His resilience and tucking three under the library means he's easy to get bay with Mayael

Samut, Tyrant Smasher replacing Anger. Nothing wrong with Anger, but for the same CMC, a somewhat sturdier body, and the ability to scry, Samut seemed like an obvious addition

I also added Windswept Heath and Canopy Vista to my lands, removing a Plains and Forest. Cleaned up the Primer, and made the text consistent. Also, This brings my Planeswalker count to 7. Is this a Superfriends deck now?

Linvala, the Preserver enters the fray, replacing Angel of Grace. The latter is far too situational, and Linvala feels like a good fit.

I've also found I've been getting mana screwed regularly, so I've replaced Soul of the Harvest and Creeping Corrosion with Smothering Tithe and Tempt with Discovery respectively. Soul has never really bought me more cards than he's worth, and corrosion is rarely worth casting unless against artifact-heavy decks.

This looks like the kind of deck I could take to my playgroup and dominate the first time and after that, they wouldn't let me play the game when they saw how good it was. Ever consider using Defense of the Heart ? Seems like a good way to react to what people are doing.

What about adding Warstorm Surge to the deck for more targeted removal/burn? A lot of your cards bring in buddies (Worldspine Wurm, Godsire, Garruks) or play creatures at instant speed. Warstorm Surge could help you make the most of those big ETBs.

You wrote in your primer

Durability: Angel of Grace , Exquisite Archangel , Platinum Angel , Keeps us alive longer. All of them also synergise with Chance for Glory .

How does Angel of Grace work with Chance for Glory? It only stops life total changes I thought, not prevent deat

Qolorful: Defense of the Heart looks great. It'll slide right in. I think it'll take the place of Dubious Challenge once I acquire one. Thank you!!

KongMing: I will definitely play test Warstorm Surge . I had Where Ancients Tread in the list before for a similar effect, and I found that I often had better things to do with my mana, and it often ended up as a dead card, or I just never got value from it. Surge seems suitably different though, and i'll give it a try. Cheers!!

Flux27: OOPS. Little typo. Thanks for picking up on that. I think I believed I was referring to Gideon of the Trials rather than Angel of Grace ! Thanks!!

Mayael the Anima was my first EDH deck that I built when I first started playing MtG. What are your thoughts on including a copy of Homeward Path as a way to gain control of your creatures again in the event someone should steal them?

Hi mtg_mykeg!! Yeah, Mayael has been my baby for so many years -- my first commander, and still my most cherished.

Ive actually been running Homeward Path for about a week, I need to update the decklist :P
