Description

This is my first EDH deck. It's meant to be very aggressive, but it is also very combo oriented in a couple of ways to be able to compete with the EDH decks with a more meta-oriented general.

Combos:

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker+Restoration Angel=Infinite Tokens

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker+Blightsteel Colossus+Warstorm Surge=11 infect to one opponent directly each turn.

Engines and Important Interactions:

Mimic Vat+Karmic Guide=Creature Recursion Engine

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker+Duplicant=Creature Removal Engine

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker+Eternal Witness=All Purpose Recursion Engine

Avacyn, Angel of Hope+Nevinyrral's Disk=Total Board Lockdown

And more...

The point of this deck is to swarm the field with fatties, distracting the opponent(s) who is usually ignorant to the fact that I can combo off and then killing at any instant. Many don't value the true power of Mayael, and I aim to change that entirely.

Definitely use card:Mirari's Wake and Prismatic Omen , it goes with Emeria, The Sky Ruin and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle .

August 19, 2012 12:41 p.m.

I'm still thinking about card:Mirari's Wake, but I don't know if I want to commit myself to the Prismatic Omen combo.

August 19, 2012 2:12 p.m.

But you must... Also try out Asceticism , because it's amazing.

August 20, 2012 1:26 p.m.

Privileged Position gives all of my permanents hexproof instead of just creatures.

August 20, 2012 4:25 p.m.

But you can use both and regenerate Mayael if bombed (You WILL be bombed)

Very nice deck, +1. I like how every Mayael deck looks different. Avacyn, Angel of Hope is a great pick...I run Engulfing Slagwurm in my deck deck:when-the-gods-come-out-to-play and he's nice, especially against certain first strike deathtouching aggro commanders.

Have you considered Wild Pair mate?

August 27, 2012 2:47 p.m.

Moo says... #10

Wait, my apologies. Just saw it in the Maybeboard.

August 27, 2012 2:48 p.m.

Damn, someone hacked my account so that all the card pictures are Brimstone Volley ! Has that ever happened to you?

August 27, 2012 5:53 p.m.

It's a glitch on the site that should be fixed soon.

August 27, 2012 5:58 p.m.

Also, you don't need Spearbreaker Behemoth Because that's what Avacyn, Angel of Hope is for. And it fails to protect your general.

Why not have to methods of making your creatures invincible? o.O

I believe Spearbreaker Behemoth is fine in this deck.

September 1, 2012 2:53 a.m.

Yeah the more invincibility the better

Yeah, indestructible is awesome. I run the Sun Titan +Dauntless Escort combo in my deck

It's really fun until somebody else has a Mimic Vat

Oh, and one other thing. Have you considered Warstorm Surge instead of Where Ancients Tread , it costs one more but the damage comes from the creature. (ie. Blightsteel Colossus ) and every creature deals damage. Not just power 5 or greater.

September 1, 2012 7:13 p.m.

I think my play group would be more likely to destroy Warstorm Surge than Where Ancients Tread so I'm trying to cover myself

September 1, 2012 9:47 p.m.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could cut to put in Wild Pair ?? I really want that in the deck.

September 1, 2012 9:55 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #21

Do you have any issues with the color weight of Deus of Calamity (btw another card that is awesome/cruel with the surge.)

Or, what about Thousand-Year Elixir ? You're only running three creatures with activated abilities that require a tap, including Mayael.

September 1, 2012 10:01 p.m.

Yeah I guess Thousand-Year Elixir really doesn't pull it's weight in this deck...I'll probably take it out for Wild Pair

September 1, 2012 10:51 p.m.

Of course it is a nice mana burst with Bloom Tender . I dunno, I'm a sucker for Wild Pair . I can't find one in my Podunk town

I know the deck is crammed full of stuff that you don't want to take out but just throwing another thought into the mix. Maybe Sterling Grove ? That plus Privileged Position makes you only vulnerable to board wipes. I mean, you can always just use it to tutor for one of your other key enchantments like Wild Pair , card:Mayael's Aria or Defense of the Heart .

September 7, 2012 10:48 a.m.

Doubling Season ? Cause you added some token makers

September 27, 2012 3:18 p.m.

not enough things to take advantage of Doubling Season

September 28, 2012 5:36 p.m.

Sterling Grove works wonders with Sun Titan

November 14, 2012 11:04 p.m.

I applaud you sir. You have taken a unique approach to the Anima. I may have to take another look at mine!

January 28, 2013 7:11 p.m.

I just stumbled upon this deck and the name sounded familiar. I wonder where from...

PROJECT: Mayael's Monsters

June 19, 2016 8:09 a.m.

Also take out Mayael the Anima from your main board. It is automatically included into card count and stuff, so you dont need to have it in your main board. It will make your deck look cleaner (my OCD talking) and also stop you from drawing your commander in Playtesting on the site.
