Marath Tokens, Counters, and Infinite Combos

This deck mainly focuses on creating tokens and enhancing Marath, Will of the Wild's ability. There are a lot of combo's built in that can take advantage of Marath's ability as well. I can not take credit for discovering any of these combos as they were all borrowed from researching other decks online. I will list the combos I have included and how they work below.

Other than just combos I have included good amount of removal, card draw, and mana ramp. There are also few ways to bring cards or creatures back from the graveyard.

Infinite Tokens ex1:

Cathars' Crusade + Mana Echoes + Marath, Will of the Wild

This works as follows. Marath creates a 1/1 token. Cathars' Crusade replaces the counter he spent. Mana Echoes creates at least 2 colorless mana for the token created. This mana gets used to generate more tokens with Marath's ability. Create 5 million tokens and go bananas.

Infinite Tokens ex2:

Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle + Geist-Honored Monk or Wurmcoil Engine or Worldspine Wurm

This reqires 2 mana from a seperate source and works as follows. Sacrifice either wurm or the geist with Ashnod's Altar. Use the two mana generated plus two mana from other sources to activate Nim Deathmantle's ability bringing the creature that was sacked back into the battlefield. Now sack one of the tokens you just generated then sack the wurm or geist again. This will net you 4 colorless mana and allow you to use Nim Deathmantle's ability to once again bring the wurm or geist back to the battlefield. You should have one extra token from this cycle (two with Worldspine Wurm). Repeat till you have 5 million tokens and enjoy.

Infinite Tokens ex3:

Ashnod's Altar + Doubling Season + Marath, Will of the Wild

I had to play test a bit before I discovered this one. Remove a counter from Marath to create a 1/1 token. Doubling Season triggers and you get 2 1/1 tokens. Sac one of the 1/1 tokens with Ashnod's Altar for 2 colorless mana. Use the 2 mana to remove 1 counter from Marath then put 1 counter back on him. Doubling season Triggers and he gets 2 counters in stead. Do this step again with the second mana you generated. If Marath started with 3 counters and you did this right he should now have 4 counters and there should be a 1/1 token left on the battlefield. Sac the remaining token to get 2 mana. Use the 2 mana to remove 2 counters from marath and create 2 1/1 tokens. Doubling Season Triggers and you get 4 1/1 tokens. Keep repeating this cycle of sacrificing tokens and adding counters then removing counters to add tokens until you have a infinitely large army of 1/1 creatures. Once you have enough creatures out and more than 40 counters on Marath you can just sac 20 creatures and remove 40 counters from Marath to do 40 damage and destroy your opponent. (or wait till a higher number of counters/tokens to destroy multiple opponents.)

Infinite Tokens ex4:

Ashnod's Altar + Cathars' Crusade + Marath, Will of the Wild

As with the third infinite Token Combo this one took me a little play testing to notice. (Ashnod's Alter has a lot more value in this deck then I anticipated.) Pay 1 mana to remove 1 counter from Marath and create a 1/1 token. Cathars' Crusade replaces the counter you just removed. Sac the 1/1 token to generate 2 mana. You can now endlessly create tokens for 1 mana and sac them to get 2 mana thus allowing you to create a billion tokens. You can replace Cathars' Crusade with Ivy Lane Denizen. An added bonus with Cathars' Crusade though is all the tokens you create will get buffed with a counter when a new token comes out. Marath will be stuck at whatever power and toughness you started him at though so this will not work as well the Doubling Season variation.

Infinite Tokens ex5:

Ashnod's Altar + Illusionist's Bracers + Marath, Will of the Wild

Ok this is getting ridiculous lol. I added Illusionist's Bracers in to play test and realized it basically applies the Doubling Season effect to Maraths Ability. So this one works the same way as the above Doubling Season Combo.

(Adding Warstorm Surge or Trostani, Selesnya's Voice to any of the infinite token combos will allow you do deal infinite damage and or gain infinite life. Additionally if Akroma's Memorial or Ogre Battledriver are on the battlefield you will be able to attack immediately.)

Infinite Colorless Mana:

Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth + 2 mana

This one is a little complex but I will try to explain it clearly. Throughout the explanation a number inside paretheses will signify amount of mana in mana pool. Tap Basalt Monolith to generate 3 mana(3). Use that three mana to untap Basalt Monolith(0). Copy the untap ability with Rings of Brighthearth using two mana from another source. Before the second untap ability resolves tap Basalt Monolith again for 3 mana(3). The second untap ability will then resolve. Tap Basalt Monolith again for 3 more mana(6). Use three of the 6 mana you now have to untap basalt monolith(3). Copy the untap ability for 2 mana with Rings again(1). Once Again tap Basalt Monolith before the second untap ability resolves(4). The second untap ability will then resolve. Tap Basalt Monolith again for 3 more mana (7). Continue this cycle which will give you one extra mana each time as much as needed.

This infinite mana can be used to power the infinite marath token combo listed above if you do not have Mana Echoes out. Alternately this infinite mana can be poured into the X costs of Savageborn Hydra,Mikaeus, the Lunarch or Martial Coup for one massive creature, or huge number of soldier tokens that cause all other creatures to be destroyed.
