Mana Maze Solitaire: Take That! (Which Was Taken)

Casual Budget Five Color Jank Theme/Gimmick

DinoTsar415

Welcome once again to the wild world of Mana Maze Solitaire!

I'm your host DinoTsar415, and today we're talking about the oh so beloved Kamigawa Block.

But before we dive into that arcane plane, we have to get the prerequisite cross-promotion out of the way. If this deck and the MMS format interests you, you can check out my other lists here and here.

Now that the ads are over, let's get this show on the road.

Goal

As I understand it, That Which Was Taken is a card that is absolutely central to Kamigawa's story. It is the physical form of O-Kagachi's child which was stolen by the samurai lord Konda and thus the impetus for the entire Kami War. Seems like this format is as good as any for playing out our own Kami War reenactment, and so the entire goal of this deck is to take back That Which Was Taken.

To this end, the deck is full of positive (permanent removing) Kami looking to get to the relic and negative (difficult to remove) samurai who will lay down their lives to protect it.

Notes:

  • You might notice this is an entirely "in-block" deck. Flavor was hugely important in my design of this deck and so I have chosen to exclude any cards that don't fall in line with the Kami v. Samurai theme.

  • Currently I am worried that this deck's goal is too easy to pull off. Several of the Kami have really powerful effects and with only 9 serious threats to progression, it may all be over too quickly.

  • As always I realize this is a format that almost nobody plays and for which there aren't many deck lists online. (AKA my three and one other) So, if anyone is interested in it and doesn't know where to start I'll try my best to help you if you leave a comment.
