Mairsil - What If I Say I'll Never Surrender

An updated deck, focus is breaking Mairsil and winning the game in the process

Main Idea

The main goal of the deck is to create infinite coloured mana, This will allow us to Summon/Flick/Bounce Mairsil infinite times. Once we have This Infinite Mairsil triggers we win the game.

Breaking Mairsil with Infinite Mana Combo's

There are a few Ways to go infinite with Mairsil, We have chosen the best ways that offer the highest synergy with strong resilience. The ways to go infinite in the deck are;

Main Combo

- 1 - Quicksilver Elemental +

- 2 - Gilded Lotus, or Coveted Jewel +

- 3 - Staff of Domination, or Pili-Pala

having one card from the 3 options all caged will allow for Mairsil to tap for 3 of any colour then untap for 1cmc, Then lastly using Quicksilver Elemental to copy our activated abilities and using the new set start the loop making 1 coloured mana every time.

In this situation Gilded Lotus + Quicksilver Elemental + Staff of Domination Staff of domination is a Win con in it's self as it will let us draw our entire deck which is the same as winning. I've explained how to win once we have down below.

Extending the Infinite mana

We've Extended how to go infinite on this combo by adding Grand Architect, Adding 1 card to allow an infinite Mairsil-less mana combo seem's like an easy level of resilience for the deck; Grand Architect + Pili-Pala

- 1 - Use Grand Architect to make Pili-Pala blue,

- 2 - Activate Grand Architect tapping our now blue Pili-Pala to create 2 mana, Untap Pili-Pala creating 1 mana of any color

- 3 - you have a loop creating 1 mana of any colour.

Back up Main Combo

Oldy but a goldy, Deadeye Navigator + Mairsil, the Pretender

- 1 - Tap Mairsil for 3 blue mana,

- 2 - Blink Mairsil using Deadeye Navigator

- 3 - As long as you have a 0 cost haste enabler you have the Infinte loop

Our last Way to win

Another well established way to win, with both caged; Anthroplasm + Sage of Hours

- 1 - Use Anthroplasm to add 5 counters,

- 2 - Remove the 5 counters with Sage of Hours to create endless turns.

We have lots of options to win the game once we have our mana, these all have other abilities and won't often be a dead card. if they are we're on our way to winning.

  • AEtherling, Morphling, Torchling all have either a bounce or 1cmc untap so will be important during the start of the game but during the end game have the ability to infinitely remove Mairsil with the +1/-1, if we have infinite mana then we can use this to Summon/Sac Mairsil as many times as we need. giving Mairsil as mana cage options as we need.

  • Staff of Domination, Probably the strongest/Most versatile card in the deck, Will draw entire deck with Infinite mana. Giving us all the pieces we need to cast/win

  • Knacksaw Clique if we have infinite summons/taps and untaps using this in place of Staff of domination will let us exile opponents deck.

  • Hateflayer after we have established a loop of summons/Blinks Hateflayer can be used to deal infinite damage to all opponents.

We 10 options all set to aggresively bounce Mairsil some of the really good ones include;

  • Cavern Harpy - 0cmc, Can bounce at any time for 1 life

  • Grinning Ignus - Actually ramps us 2mana

  • Ovinomancer - Destroys a creauture

  • Thalakos Scout - 0cmc, No real downside as we cage from our GY

    • Mirror-Mad Phantasm use to be a staple in my Blue GY decks but it costs 7 to get 1 activation, and I don't run Lab maniac as I just don't like it. There's currently 2 open spots in the 99 to fill so this may go in but 7cmc for an activation is very slow..although the payoff can be game winning.

    • Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts does't feel like it fit's + I already run this combo in a Krenco deck so don't need/want to run it twice.

    • Tree of Perdition This combo's off with Hateflayer to Knock out opponent's but for it to not be slow needs to be the focus of the deck, When we have to choose what to cage before we have Mairsil on loop we can work towards This combo or our current combo. There arent any other overlapping options so this becomes Our only way to win before turn 6. and then we need to do it 3 times. This might be a good addition if Necrotic Ooze is added.

    • Phyrexian Devourer I've seen this in some decks and I can understand why, can power up Mairsil my only issue is that we're bouncing/Flicking all the time to get our cage up so we won't be building till after our cage is set and when it's set we Have Hateflayer to win. this is the same reason Spikeshot Goblin got removed from the 99 as well.

    As the deck is still in testing..

    Dropping the dead eye combo for now and adding 3 bounce all cards at 4cmc or less.

    The idea behind this is that we want to bounce Mairsil to get things caged but we've been in games where baord states are getting too developed so as a halfway point we're testing bouncing all perms.

    Tonadd to this, we're adding some board wipes and have added 2 dredge options.
