This is a deck I've been wanting to build for quite a while now. I have always loved how Jund decks play out in general, and building a T2 version can be a little tricky. This deck has shown a lot of potential, but I feel it could still use a lot of work and testing to get it just right.
Please tell me what you all think of this build, and how you think it can improve.
I will greatly appreciate any and all helpful comments. Thank you.
+1 if you like Jund in Standard. =)
Mono G Elves: 2-0
W/B Human Exalted: 2-0
With the recent addition of Mimic Vat to this deck, I think Glissa, the Traitor will help out quite a bit. She brings back my Vats but mostly serves as a powerful blocker. Definitely a major improvement.
EDIT: -1 Borderland Ranger , -1 Huntmaster of the Fells Flip for +2 Thragtusk . This helps my curve a little bit and supplies me with more creatures that can deal with board wipes, and also grants me another good beater.
EDIT 7/1712: Added 2x Cavern of Souls for better matchups with control. I have almost an even amount of Vampires vs Humans to make this completely viable. Moved 1x Mimic Vat to SB for +1 Falkenrath Aristocrat .-2 Abundant Growth and -1 Incinerate for +1 Birds of Paradise and +2 Arc Trail .-1 Strangleroot Geist for +1 Go for the Throat .
Please let me know what you think of these updates. Thank you.
Jund is a very powerful deck in any format, my standard list got me 3rd overall in a super IQ (deck:jungle-hijinx-and-other-shennanigans-jund-aggro). I mostly have the mana base worked out, the worst thing that happens is I may run low on red sources, so another may need to be added. 95% of the time it is incredibly stable with no problems casting my guys.
im a jund player too and i like a lot your deck and for the GG problem u are playing a set of Strangleroot Geist hes also a GG and a awesome creature and glissa also a GG the problem if u run the wolfir its only run one more abundant and a ranger, thx to you now i main the day break rangers and maybe i will put the mimic bats the only problem is the gonna rotate but they have tons of sinergy with this class of deck. I will love see another aristocrat on your build im in love with her's cus they save many times in block and now on standard shes just insane cant be copy cus you can remove on the stack im running 2 bloodline keppers but i think they are a little useless only go insane if aristocrats and olivia do the job of transforming your humans and make a little army of doom but its cirtunstantial(situational) but good job a happy jund player approve your deck c:
you need to take out the wolfir silverheart and just run another thragtusk. you think huntmaster of the fells is 'bonkers' with mimic vat because it gains you two life and puts a 2/2 on the field. But Mimic Vat with Thragtusk means you'll be getting 5 life every turn and a 3/3 beast token, not to mention a 5 power beatstick with haste. Wolfir silverheart is a fantastic card but thragtusk is just too good.
Abundant Growth s aren't there as a replacement for Birds of Paradise , it's just a mana fixer that usually wont get removed. I will still playtest this a little longer before I decide to cut anymore cards, and when I decide to do so, I think I would much rather swap those for another Birds and 1x Borderland Ranger , since I dont currently have GSZ.
@lBahamutZeRO The answer is simple, they play swords. In the current meta you either play swords or POD if your playing an aggroish deck other than zombies since they have access to blood artist and geralf's messenger. Not saying your deck is bad, its a great deck but you missing free value is all that I'm saying. Yes with POD you would need to change the deck a bit but prob, not a lot with swords.
i am really loving this deck it works great, +1 I made a very similar deck IRL. and it was based off of this deck here unfortunately I don't have all the cards I need yet but i really love the idea of Jund it has always been a favourite of mine, and this deck here proves it. it has so much versatility that you can pull of with this colour combination. but any ways back to the suggestions, i found that I was not putting out the copperline gorge enough for it to be worth it, so I actually removed them and added 1 forest and 1 mountain, another suggestion would be to drop 2 arc trails and add 2 flames of the firebrand instead, I found that it has a lot more versatility.
Thank you for the compliment. =) Anyway I'll test out that mana suggestion, since I do need to tweak things a bit to get everything working correctly. Also I like Arc Trail s in this right now just because its a little bit cheaper. Originally I had 2x Flames of the Firebrand in here, but I value having 1 extra mana to use for other spells since I dont have alot of ramp. I'll reconsider it tho after some testing. Thank you for the input.
Hey, i see the last comment was a while ago. But i like the deck! Ive been running a similar brew(although i run bonfires and hellkite and am a little more R based) But ive had a lot of success. Pretty much an auto win against u/w. I love the inclusion of mimic vat. i never thought of that! It helps i think against one of this decks weaker match ups: mono black control
One thing to note is that one card that has worked wonders for me is GSZ i know you are preparing for rotation but it has won me games. It is absolutely ridiculously handy. and im only running it as a 2 of. I also run garruk but i find i am forced to side out my two copies against heavier flying creature decks, also consider Silklash spider to your sideboard as that has been a priceless GS target as it dominates any lingering souls spirit token based deck. But my picks are also based on my meta
good luck with the brew! +1 for junds comeback!
