Welcome to Lord Windgrace MLD if you are looking for a unique way to show those EDH control or combo players just how frustrating it can be to play EDH then this is the deck for you. Special thanks to Inkmoth for beating me so much with his Yeva deck that it broke my soul so I decided to create an MLD deck.

Although this deck is not meant to be CEDH worthy, it is resilient enough to hang with most optimized decks that I have encountered. Lord Windgrace MLD is solely designed to allow me to actually have fun and be a different kind of degenerate in a meta of combo and control decks. For context, the decks in our meta include Azami, Lady of Scrolls , Niv-Mizzet, Parun , Teferi, Temporal Archmage , now a Urza, Lord High Artificer and Inkmoth's Yeva Draw-Grow.

The first and the most obvious question, "Why play this deck instead of X?" Well, the answer is simple and two-fold. Firstly because of my playgroups meta; I was a lapsed player and when I jumped into EDH my friends had very strong control and combo decks. Considering my playstyle had always been more of a Timmy (I l like battlecruisers) none of the decks I wanted to make were going to be strong enough to compete at our table. So we decided, I would play spoiler and use a JUND deck to spice up our meta. Secondly, budgetary reasons, our group had an abundance of blue players and one very specific green deck so we had a lot of good to great JUND cards that were not being used, (ex. the tutor suit, Cabal Coffers , Azusa, Lost but Seeking , Sylvan Library and all the fetch lands, etc) so when Lord Windgrace was announced it was the obvious choice. He brings everything this deck needs without being so integral that losing him a few times shuts down the deck completely.

While this deck could work with a few different commanders and Lord Windgrace can even be the head of a JUND version of the Gitrog deck (having access to Seismic Assault and Borborygmos Enraged makes that a viable option) I have found that this is the version of the deck that I have most fun playing and I hope that you do too.

This deck follows the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid). You'll want to get out as many lands as possible as early as possible and get out a planeswalker like Lord Windgrace , Wrenn and Six or Xenagos, the Reveler then use Obliterate , etc. to wipe the board and use your planeswalkers and World Shaper or Splendid Reclamation to garner you more resources than your opponents to either force the surrender or play out the game. After the first couple of times, your playgroup will get the message and learn to ff after the MLD spell resolves.

The rest of the deck functions to facilitate the game plan by either getting more lands on the board, creating a card draw engine with either Skullclamp and a token producer like Turntimber Sower or Tectonic Reformation preventing your opponent's from building their boards with removal spells.

Also as noted I have a lot of anti-blue spells specifically because of my meta but they can definitely be replaced for more removal or hate and I have access to a lot of tutors to help me prepare for the board wipes.

As noted in the previous section there is no elaborate combo or turn two win-con to focus your attention to however there are fun soft locks that can make the game more enjoyable for you(if you derive enjoyment by taking it away from other people).

Any card that lets you have more than one land drop per turn like Azusa, Lost but Seeking , Crucible of Worlds or Ramunap Excavator and Strip Mine or Wasteland lets you either keep all your opponents short of resources or cripple one player every turn.

The only actual combo in the deck is It That Betrays and Keldon Firebombers . By surprising a table with a Tooth and Nail or simply dropping both of these boys down in a turn you can guarantee a win through frustration or at the very least a table looking at you in helpless disgust. Which is why I play this and you should be playing this too!
