Lord Windgrace, Jund Landfall

Still a work in progress but I feel like its a solid first draft. This list really requires a full reconstruction of the Jund deck that Wizards is releasing as part of Commander 2018.

I am not trying to make a competitive deck, or even a 75% list as I have enough of those already. The goal was to have this deck operate somewhere around 55-70%, so essentially at the casual level. First, I focused on jamming all of the good landfall cards into the deck Avenger of Zendikar , Lotus Cobra , Ob Nixilis, the Fallen , Omnath, Locus of Rage , Nesting Dragon , Seer's Sundial , Rampaging Baloths , and Zendikar's Roil . As a result, I have added a number of fetch lands so that we can maximize the number of landfall triggers. Secondly, I added a number of cards that would allow me to retrieve lands from the GY ( Crucible of Worlds , Ramunap Excavator , Tilling Treefolk , The Mending of Dominaria , Creeping Renaissance , Life from the Loam ), and to put lands into the battlefield as quickly as possibly in order to maximize landfall triggers. I also added some extra card draw to prevent our hands from depleting too quickly. This also adds some redundancy incase we lose Lord Windgrace as being a PW will mean he is removed often. I did add Constant Mists as a way of protecting Lord Windgrace. This list also has a pretty decent number of creatures (some with flying/reach) and token producers as additional ways for protecting Lord Windgrace.

The second strategy was to add creatures and effects that make tokens Omnath, Locus of Rage , Titania, Protector of Argoth , Avenger of Zendikar , Nesting Dragon , ideally from lands, lands entering the BF and/or GY since this synergizes with a lands matter deck. Winning strictly by lands was going to be difficult, so this is why I added the win-con of pumping out tokens and hopefully landing some killing blows with Triumph of the Hordes , Craterhoof Behemoth and Sylvan Awakening , or just strictly from ETB effects from Purphoros, God of the Forge and Impact Tremors .

This list isn't super tight or focused, but should be well-suited for casual play.

Change log 8/11/2018:
Crop Rotation -> Forest
Seer's sundial -> Sylvan Library
Drownyard Temple -> Command Beacon
Budoka Gardener -> Worm Harvest
Impact Tremors -> World shaper

Decided I would rather have an extra land since it pretty crucial to have the ability to immediately make use of Lord Windgrace's +1 by turn 4-5 so you can start restocking the hand by having that land available to discard. Sylvan library will be really good here since this list runs a number of fetches, which will cause you to shuffle your deck frequently. Budoka Gardener, while a decent card, just didn't do it for me during initial play testing games. Would rather just save the land card for hand to optimize Lord Windgrace's plus on. Went ahead and swapped this with worm harvest, which I think will synergize better with this deck. Switched out Impact Tremors with World Shaper to further abuse landfall triggers.

Change log 8/25/2018:

Burgeoning -> Retreat to Hagra
Explosive Vegetation -> Windgrace's Judgement
Xenagos, the Reveler -> Triumph of the Hordes

After more play testing, this list impressed in some areas and disappointed in others. The first glaring issue I encountered was that the deck does feel a tad light on removal. I remedied this by adding Windgrace's Judgement and taking on Xenagos, the Reveler. I would like to get another sweeper in here like toxic deluge or damnation, but I really need to figure out how to get these into the list. Next issue I noticed was the lack of finishing in this deck. I found myself playing tons of lands and making lots of small tokens. This was great, however, I didn't have a terrific way to finish off my opponent. I tried to combo off with Borborygmos Enraged, who immediately ate a removal. Other singular threats were also dealt with quickly. As a result I decided to add a few more win cons such as Retreat to Hagra which will net you a lot of life and drain your opponents for a lot of like over the course of a game. Triumph of the Hordes is another nice finisher, especially with a go-wide strategy. For these cards I removed ramp pieces, which felt a little overdone in play testing.

Change log 9/28/2018:
As of today, I am fairly happy with this list. This deck has won the last 3 games (4 person pod) with an overall record of 5-3 (60% win rate). Overall, this deck can be brutally explosive when I hit the right cards. For example, I was able to get Avenger of Zendikar out on turn 7, after another opponent who was going off ate a ton of removal. Hoping that my opponents played out all of their removal spells I played Avenger, played/cracked a fetch and gave my plants 2 counters, then activated Windgrace's -3 ability for another 4 counters (2 fetches in GY). No one had removal, so Avenger made it to the next turn with 10 plants, so I repeated the steps in my previous turn for another 6 counters (10x 12/13 plants), which was game when I swung. I will admit, I find myself flooding hard with lands. Normally, for a lands deck this shouldn't technically be an issue, but there are times where I play a lot of lands and feel like I am doing nothing. I may need to consider dropping a land and swapping in another win con, but I am still up in the air about doing this since most Windgrace lists are running at least 41 lands. Obviously, if anyone has feedback, let me know!

Change log 11/12/2018:
This deck continues to perform well in my playgroup. However, this deck does tend to flood out, even for a lands deck. I decided to drop Myraid landscape for Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar as a way to get lands back into our hand.

Change log 12/02/2018:
Decided to get in more reliable card draw, so I swapped in Horn of Greed for Sword of the Animist . I also needed to get in Underrealm Lich and took out Prossh. While Prossh lends itself to the token strategy, thats about it so I gave him the boot.

Change log 08/29/2018:
Took out The Mending of Dominaria , which wasn't feeling as impactful, it replace it with Evolution Sage , which just bonkers with Windgrace. In a perfect world, it should not be hard to ultimate with Lord Windgrace, if you can manage to get this out.
