This is my take on a relatively rotation proof Mono-Black Pirates deck. It's meant to be kind of tricky and get around blockers to get in chip damage whilst disrupting the opponent with hand attack and removal. Its only a concept right now, but it seems to be pretty good against fair creature decks and control decks, but is almost defenseless against combo decks like GPG. If you have the money or some copies laying around, I would highly recommend Vraska's Contempt over Hour of Glory. Feel free to comment with suggestions or criticisms!

Matchup: Red/Black Game 1: We had a nice aggressive start, grasping scoundrel into glint sleeve into ruin raider, but got blown out by Goblin Chainwhirler into Unliscenced Desintegration with a Heart of Kiran in play. Ended up losing. Game 2: Kept a sketchy hand with 1 land, 3 one drops and 3 gifted aetherborn, but we managed to topdeck the land and play out our hand. They boarded in glorybringer, which was a problem as it killed one of our Aetherborn, but we topdecked Cast Down We ended up grinding them out with the aetherborn along with Glint-Sleeve Siphoner and a March of the Drowned (which performed very well, might add another copy). Game 3: Both me and my opponent got land screwed, but I could actually operate on 2 lands where they couldn’t realistically because of the way they boarded. Ended up winning.

Overall: Based Solely on this match, I think the matchup is pretty much as I originally thought; with us losing game 1, but boarding in better things in games 2-3. However, I never saw a Hazoret hit the table and Unliscenced Disintegration is way better than I thought in this match, so I don’t know if it is representative of the actual matchup. Will need to test further to be sure.
