Legacy Mono-White

Virlym Score: 9

Description

funny white legacy deck. combos into doin many things. 1) exiling opponents permanents. 2) making Mox Diamonds and Phyrexian Dreadnoughts look stupid. 3) flicker attackers to live another turn. 4) can hold out from an all out attack with help from Angel's Grace so you can make the finishing move. and much more... Comments and suggestions are very much welcome.

Might as well start keeping records after doing so much testing...

I guess that your win condition is the swords, but how do you plan on making you guys survive wraths?

Virlym says... #2

I can vial in a Flickerwisp to save one and I can use the Sword of Light and Shadow to recover creatures. I don't really need any creature specifically to win. Any creature with a sword, Serra Avenger alone, or Jotun Grunt alone could deal all the damage I need.

Ok I'm stumped, how does Phyrexian Dreadnought work in this deck?

April 5, 2011 4:42 a.m.

asuraofcards says... #5

Just one suggestion, are all 4 karakas necessary? being a legenday land and all.

April 5, 2011 5:18 a.m.

felecity says... #6

yes all 4 Karakas are necessary due to the awesome combo it produces and the presence of Wasteland in legacy. for those who dont know, combo goes like this

1)activate Mangara of Corondor 's ability to exile a target permanent and itself

2)before passing priority, activate Karakas 's ability to return Mangara of Corondor to your hand

3)Opponents get a round of effects

4)Stack resolves, Mangara of Corondor returns to your hand, then the target permanent is exiled. Mangara of Corondor is not however since it is now in your hand.

this deck makes Phyrexian Dreadnought look silly by use of a Flickerwisp . It will return to the battlefield and they will have to waste a Stifle or let or let it die.

ohhh, gotcha, sorry I was tired last night and didn't realize that Phyrexian Dreadnought wasn't actually in the deck.

no worries. i can be confusing sometimes anyways, so im used to it.

Yea I got how the combo works. My friend built this deck w/o harrier, and Jotun grunt. I think he had Loxodon Peacekeeper sideboard for zoo. I actually lent him the two swords for it. I still think 3 Karakas is enough and not too much to draw that second one.

He had the 4th karakas and played only 3. Also, he used 2 Rishadan port because he didn't have others. Besides that same build. Anyways its an awesome deck +1!

April 5, 2011 5:35 p.m.

Virlym says... #11

i run the 4 Karakas in case of the heavy land destruction, and it's easier to draw one when i need to. i've never had a problem with having more than i need though.

I would love to play this against this deck: deck:marit-lage-unleashed

February 20, 2012 6:44 p.m.

Virlym says... #13

I'll play you using Cockatrice? Although, I'm pretty sure you can make your deck Legacy legal by just taking out the Demonic TutorMTG Card: Demonic Tutor.

February 20, 2012 6:57 p.m.

Minousmancer says... #14

I thought you could have one Demonic TutorMTG Card: Demonic Tutor in Legacy?

February 20, 2012 7:02 p.m.

Virlym says... #15

It's apparently banned in legacy. Legacy Format

February 20, 2012 7:05 p.m.

Minousmancer says... #16

I'd Ice FloeMTG Card: Ice Floe your CockatriceMTG Card: Cockatrice.

February 20, 2012 7:06 p.m.

Minousmancer says... #17

I'll replace it then.

February 20, 2012 7:07 p.m.

Virlym says... #18

Lol, not CockatriceMTG Card: Cockatrice, I meant Cockatrice

February 20, 2012 7:11 p.m.

Minousmancer says... #19

Changed it out, still that's what Ice FloeMTG Card: Ice Floe is for, or my new addition of Go for the ThroatMTG Card: Go for the Throat and my IcequakeMTG Card: Icequakes will take care of your WastelandMTG Card: Wastelands.

February 20, 2012 7:22 p.m.

Virlym says... #20

lol. I don't mind that. I can easily get rid of your Marit Lage by exiling it for a sec using FlickerwispMTG Card: Flickerwisp XD.

it would be quite funny to see you playing against some decks that play in the big meta:- UGr Threshold- Maverick- Merfolks (yes they have returned xD)- TES- Reanimate- Dredge

August 8, 2012 11:10 a.m.

Virlym says... #22

I started testing against Merfolk, Reanimate, Dredge, Spanish Inquisition, Enchantress, Rock, Natural Order, Goblins, Sneak-and-Tell, etc. I just haven't played against those much lately. I haven't found people that really play them anymore. I normally just play on cockatrice now though (not very many people play legacy around me anymore).

August 8, 2012 11:29 a.m.

Zodiark says... #23

same thing happens here in Portugal... modern crap comes, and Legacy players all lost their skill and will :(Well... we'll thrive someday as the eternal resistance xDI have a Dredge deck, and it would be nice to play against you :)It's a quadlaser with some moddifications.BTW have you played against Belcher? It's like Spanish Inquisition (I mean the clock) but with much more endurance, since it doesn't rely on draw engines that halve their life!

August 8, 2012 12:03 p.m.

Virlym says... #24

Yea, one of the main people I tested against had a Spanish Inquisition modded to incorporate Belcher. It wasn't straight Belcher, but it was just about as effective. It essentially gave him two ways to win. Although, you had to really think when you played it because it was pretty difficult to think out so many cards ahead.
