Use the improvise mechanic to put out some big mean black spells ahead of curve. Herald of Anguish is our main payoff, since he has improvise built-in. He can quickly take over and end a game, and importantly dodges both Fatal Push and Grasp of Darkness. Cruel Reality is our other payoff spell, which is easier to cast with an Inspiring Statuary in play. It's effect is even crueler with all of our removal.

Speaking of which, we have Fatal Push, Grasp of Darkness, Ruinous Path (for all the Gideons and Lilianas), Collective Brutality (which can be used to turn dead cards in hand into value), and Yahenni's Expertise for token swarm decks.

Our artifacts are mostly cheap, value artifacts whose main purpose is to fuel improvise. They can also be sac'd to Herald of Anguish.

The sideboard runs Lost Legacy mainly for Ulamog, but can be good against tricky creatures and enchantments. Similarly, Dispossess is here for Marvel, but is useful against vehicles. Unburden comes in against control, and Yahenni's Expertise comes in against zombies.
