Lingering Souls evolved into...Spaghetti Monster!

Modern Combo Midrange Tokens WUB (Esper)

This is a project that i've been working on with apm239 for awhile now, but truthfully haven't been able to devote enough attention to. It is available for anyone to play though in our weekly Modern events at SCG Hobby Latrobe.

The general plan of attack is to play a straight-forward tokens game backed up with some disruption. We're splashing to enable a secondary win condition: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Lingering Souls + Polymorph . Since Emrakul is the only creature card in the deck, we're guaranteed to successfully hit one when casting Polymorph on a token. The obvious downside is that Polymorph is both a sorcery and that it targets (allowing our opponents to simply respond with a Path to Exile, Lightning Bolt or any other such removal). For this reason, I believe that the best home for this combo is in the sideboard as a means to try and steal some games. There is also the added synergy of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Windbrisk Heights - since Heights allows us to cast the card without paying its cost, Emrakul's triggered ability will in fact trigger and we'll get to take an extra turn.

It should be noted that this is really just the Modern Event deck with an upgraded mana-base, 2 Emrakul's and 4 Polymorph's thrown in. Like I mentioned above, this is a project that, while showing some promise, hasn't been at the top of my priority list. I would definitely like to add a heftier disruption package in Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek, but my copies of those spells are tied up in Goyf-less Outcasts and Grixis Delver (Modern). I've also thought that some number of Geist of Saint Traft's would be appropriate somewhere in the 75.
