Maybeboard

We give you a choice. That's how we handle politics. The only thing we ask of you in return, is your life.

Making Athteos really work is tough, but because of other recursion in this deck, it becomes pretty much useless for opponents to pay 3 life. It will only make me have to pay some mana/life to get my creatures back. But giving me my creatures back for free constantly will be killing, as I don't play useless critters. As the game develops, while keeping the board clean of too big a thread, the deck will take control as paying 3 life becomes as useless as allowing creatures to return to hand that suck away life.

Each creature is carefully selected to have synergy with other cards, to create lifeloss loops, to give me plenty of card draw, and recurring removal.

Info on some card choices:

Removal
In stead of having a lot of removal spells, I added loads of creatures that have abilities to exile/destroy stuff. It makes them recurring removal, which is incredibly powerful. If you play your politics right, getting them back to your hand should not be much of a problem.

Draw
Multiple cards generate card draw as I sacrifice other creatures, and Wall of Omens for instance is a perfect example of recurring card draw on a stick. It's so cheap and so "useless" opponents will be hesitant to pay 3 life for it. Thanks! Then there's the draw Engines like Erebos.

Lifeloss
Plenty of life to be lost by recurring a big bomb like Kokusho, or tiny bombs like Tattered Mummy

Some card choice explanations:
- Academy Rector : You cannot get this back after exiling it of course, but it's an awesome tutor and can be fed to the different sac engines
- Faceless Butcher : Sacrifice the Butcher when the first trigger is on the stack so the last trigger will resolve first. It will exile a creature forever, and there you have a potential 4 mana recurring removal spell.
- Fleshbag Marauder & friends: Keep the board nice and clean by recurring them over and over. It makes attacking possible.
- Heartless Summoning : I've always wanted to play this card, but never had a good deck for it until now. So many 1 toughness creatures are now instantly dead. In combination with Phyrexian Altar plenty of creatures with >=2 toughness and <=3 CMC will be freely cast, sacrificed, and played again. If an opponent decides to pay 3 life, getting them back isn't so hard. This card really opens up loops.
- Sigil of the New Dawn : Mini-Athreos. It actually makes the choice for an opponent to not pay 3 life easier.
