Added Heartless Hidetsugu and Dragon's Breath —April 8, 2019

Finally decided to throw caution to the wind and added Heartless Hidetsugu which should help with our strategy. Also decided to add Dragon's Breath to test out this recurrable haste-enabler which should work well with Licia, Moltensteel Dragon, and Evra, Halcyon's Witness.

For Heartless Hidetsugu I switched out Angel's Grace because it was just a "nice to have" card and not essential to the deck. For Dragon's Breath I switched out Soul's Fire with my line of thinking being that I may be able to surprise them with haste rather than a cantrip. Not 100% on the switch, but I'll see how it plays over the next month.

I am 100% going to switch out Well of Lost Dreams for Bolas's Citadel when War of the Spark comes out though. That card is nuts. I'll probably find room for Sensei's Divining Top again too.

Licia is dear to me as well, and you've got an interesting list. It's great to see a few cards that I feel I've discovered for Licia that I don't see in very many lists like Children of Korlis, Acatian Moneychanger, Tainted Sigil, Augur Il-Vec.

I realize he's not really a creative card, but Sun Titan would be able to get back these pieces for you. I also like Phyrexian Reclamation for this purpose.

Sunbeam Spellbomb is a nice way to get Licia out early, or draw a card in a pinch. Also recurrable with Sun Titan. I've been looking around myself for more cards that will get Licia out early, I think Tithe Drinker is worth a slot, I feel I underestimated the value of Extort in a multiplayer setting. Having said that, I only run one other extort card which is Blind Obedience, but you're usually gaining 3 life off an Extort which is very nice.

Only other recommendations I would make would be more haste enablers for Licia. Like the list.

Thanks WestNileWerewolf, I appreciate it! I used to run Sun Titan and Phyrexian Reclamation in an older version of this deck that was more mid-range and creature-based, but kind of left them out when I went and revamped the strategy to this version. I haven't thought about adding more recursion in a while, but Sun Titan could certainly be useful in grabbing some of my better enchantments back too. It's something I should consider.

I feel that Gisela, the Broken Blade is probably the card I'd consider switching out the most, because Brisela, Voice of Nightmares never happens and it doesn't provide much other utility other than being a 4/3 life linker.

As for looking for ways to get Licia out early, Martyr of Sands is a great way to get her out early, because you only need 2 white cards in hand to gain 6 life. She also scales the more white cards you have in hand. If you're having a lot of problems with keeping Licia on the board and need more tools to get her out more consistently, maybe try including Words of Worship . You trade off drawing cards if you use it, but it's a consistent, repeatable burst of life. You could also try Glory-Bound Initiate . I used to run Tithe Drinker in that older deck of mine as well, I think it's worth a slot if you're running other extort stuff.

I had Martyr of Sands in my first draft, but I ran into a couple situations where I didn't have the white cards in hand when I had the Martyr so I took it out. Haven't playtested a ton though, so maybe I just got unlucky with it.

Glory-Bound Initiate is definitely a card I looked at, but I wanted as much as possible to cram in stuff that could gain me life BEFORE combat so I had a chance at bringing out Licia and swinging with her in the same turn. So instead I opted for things like Augur Il-Vec and Chaplain's Blessing .

Getting Licia out early AND giving her haste is a tall order, still trying to find the right balance of cards. Besides Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves I'm currently running Dragon Breath and Haunted Cloak for haste.

Also, I've found Favor of the Mighty to be very sneaky. Definitely has the potential to backfire but I've gotten in with Licia so many times with it.
