I've been playing this game for about 2 years now, and mill was always a deck type I have been interested in. I have made many builds of this deck type over the years, so I started to give names to the decks after random foods.
This mill deck is meant to be a budget, but competitive deck. Mill is basically played by moving your opponents entire deck into their graveyard. Along the way, we use cards like Jace's Phantasm, Visions of Beyond, and Extirpate to make good use of the cards we mill.
To actually mill the cards, we use Glimpse the Unthinkable, Breaking/Entering, Mesmeric Orb, Hedron Crab, Archive Trap, and Mind Funeral.
To keep us alive during that time, we use Fatal Push, Crypt Incursion, and Set Adrift.
Glimpse the Unthinkable mills 10, which is very good on turn 2. You can get a 5/5 flyer on turn two if you play Jace's Phantasm, then a Glimpse the Unthinkable on turn 2. Breaking/Entering mills 8, which is still ok.Mesmeric Orb mills 1 for every thing that untaps, which is highly efficient with Fraying Sanity on the board. I used to run 4 but now only 1, for long match ups.Hedron Crab is the best turn 1 drop, and is useful throughout the whole game.Archive Trap is basically free 13 cards. Whenever they fetch, play one of these. Or use Ghost Quarter to make them search.Mind Funeral is better with decks like aggro, and is even better if you Extirpate one of their play sets.Jace's Phantasm is basically a 1 mana 5/5 flyer.Visions of Beyond is amazing, letting you draw 3 for one mana, or just letting you cycle it.Extirpate lets us choose almost any card in their deck and exile it.Fatal Push is for early game removal.Crypt Incursion can gain you lots of life, and its good against aggro.Set Adrift is also useful, and its sometimes only 1 mana to play because Mesmeric Orb mills us to.Traumatize is for the combo.
The mana base is simple, yet efficient.
I've been thinking about adding cards that can take advantage of an opponent's graveyard, such as The Scarab God and Talent of the Telepath. If anyone knows about other cards like these please comment down bellow.
