Description

This is a deck i've had for months. L0stinExile helped me build it when i was just getting back into magic. I own all the cards except Mind Over Matter. Hope you like it too! Its quite the budget Niv deck (around 100 bucks, much cheaper than most which average 500-600)

Main win conditions are: Firemind's Foresight --> Lightning Bolt/Burn from Within, Reset, Reiterate for infinite mana/damage.

Reset and Reiterate for infinite mana into Blue Sun's Zenith for infinite draw.

Talrand, Sky Summoner and Stormtide Leviathan + Reset and Reiterate for infinite flying drakes, unblockable for the most part.

Mind Over Matter + Temple Bell + Guile for infinite draw (all players) then on end step, exile my infinite hand size enabler and discard guile.

Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind also combos well with Willbreaker if i can get some card draw. Nice board state, too bad its MINE NOW!

And the always remembered Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and Curiosity

Eventually i would like to add in Azami, Lady of Scrolls

If you have a suggestion for something to take out for that card, let me know!

Now the sad face

I'm thinking abut taking out Melek, Izzet Paragon. Hes a good card and fits well seemingly, but ive almost never been able to use his copying ability... he dies too quickly. Aethersnatch is usually a dead card in my hand so replacing that soon too.

SPECIFIC CARD QUESTIONS

So i have been asked in real life why i have Final Iteration  Flip, Niblis of Frost, Hypersonic Dragon, Frost Titan, Assembled Alphas, Reef Worm, and Teferi, Temporal Archmage

Simply put, Iteration is so niv doesnt die to those stupid -4/-4 cards, and i make wizards for chumping.

Niblis of Frost is for total control over their creatures. No untapping for you.

Hypersonic Dragon is a dragon with Flying and Haste! hes a 4/4 threat no less, so its hard to stop from hitting something and killing it or hitting you. He lets me cast some cards at instant speed i couldn't cast otherwise, such as Burn from Within to get rid of a Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, or a Curse of the Swine for the same type of reasoning.

Frost Titan and Assembled Alphas take threat away from niv about 70% of the time. You want to get rid of that free bolt from the alphas and the stupid tapping from frost titan, as well as the counter inherent to him. As a bonus, they have big blocking butts or heavy hitting power on swing.

Reef Worm is there as a blocker that can get huge, but unfortunately after his first transformation, he dies to Smite the Monstrous and similar cards. Its still worth to have due to people not wanting to swing in and not wanting to see a 9/9 kraken.

Lastly, if im running low on card draw spells, Teferi, Temporal Archmage is there to save the day! and if i desperately need blockers or to cast another spell, his -1 is phenomenal.

I hope that answers your questions about those few!

This deck looks pretty nice, but Awaken the Sky Tyrant is unbelievably bad. It is a conditional vanilla beater that is not even that far above the power and toughness curve when talking about EDH, assuming of course that it even activates. In a deck like this the last thing you want to do is waste time and resources on creatures that ultimately serve no purpouse. Why not include stuff like Stormbreath Dragon instead if you want to be aggressive? Why not include Propaganda if you want to keep people from attacking you? This has nothing to do with your deck, but I just hate this card so much!

Still a great deck, but I think you need to figure out an overall gameplan and streamline your deck a little more to reach that ideal. Right now it is kind of all over the place with what it wants to do, there is no clear theme identifiable, at least for me. You have tempo cards like Niblis of Frost and aggressive stuff like Hypersonic Dragon, even though your deck is much more controlling than aggressive or tempo oriented. You have all the combo pieces, but assembling the combo is not really your main plan to victory. You have cards like Fevered Visions, but not that many wheel effects to really punish your opponents. Nail it down to one theme. Burn/handcycling, control/combo or storm, but all of those are too much for one deck to handle.

Have fun playing and upgrading the deck, welcome to the Izzet League!

Thanks for the feedback Niv-Mizzet TheDracogenius! This deck is mostly suited to stall in multiplayer and avoid confrontation, but if i have to be aggressive then it can be. Outside for two or three aggressive cards, the deck mostly uses soft combos. Ive been looking for a reason to drop the sky tyrant card but i dont own anything that i feel i could swich it with. Might have to go out and buy some! any suggestions?

Athraithe I know it sounds boring, but you should include artifical ramp. I can get behind the exclusion of Sol Ring, as many metas call for it to be banned, but in a normal EDH deck you want about 10 ramp cards, in a deck that draws so many cards those become even more important as you need to cast your spells! You only have 3, two of which are all the way up at 5 mana. Izzet Signet, Thran Dynamo etc. are not staples for nothing. Burnished Hart is also quite nice. In a deck with an average CMC of 3.9 those are absolutely necessary.
