Uril, the Miststalker: Aurastorm [[PRIMER]]

Commander / EDH Combo RGW (Naya) Storm Theme/Gimmick Voltron

Sultai_Sir

Uril Storm? What's going on? This deck works by getting a critical mass of cards that read, "Whenever you cast an enchantment/aura, draw a card", and cost reducers, and then casting a bunch of enchantments in one turn and storming off for the win! If that interests you, let's dive into the primer!

Before the coronavirus pandemic, my LGS had a problem. A blue problem. I'm not usually against any strategy, but of these Meddling Mages, 3 of the 5 had full on lock/stax decks. Now, I've played stax, I've played MLD, but at least it had a wincon! These guys were rolling up here, drawing all the cards, and Stasising our butts off, but never winning. The Grand Arbiter Augustin IV player's only wincon was Augustin beatdown. After one particular nasty match, I vowed to draw more cards then them... without blue! I've been refining and tinkering with it ever since!
Uril is known as a nasty commander in multiplayer, and for good reason. He usually one-shots players as early as turn 4, and then they're forced to wait for an hour after Uril gets removed (admittedly a pretty hard task). However, this deck uses voltron as a joint wincon with it's other more fun wincon: Storm Combo! Now, you may be asking, 'How does a voltron deck storm off?' Well, this deck storms off by getting a bunch of cards that trigger off of enchantments to draw a card (Sram, Argothian Enchantress, and the like), and a bunch of cost reducers (Starfield Mystic, Cloud Key, and the like), and then going through our deck in a couple of turns. If you can stick a Brallin, Skyshark Rider   or Glint-Horn Buccaneer, boom, you just dealt your opponents 25 damage! The end result of this storming off is no friends, but more importantly, victory!
Now, I would be amiss if I didn't slip in any combos, wouldn't I? I'm still sticking to my no-infinite rule, but these combos will still make your "friends" groan:

  • Madcap Skills + Alpha Authority: You know what's better then a 64/62 lifelinking double-striking flampling Uril with vigilance? An **_unblockable_** 64/62 lifelinking double-striking flampling Uril with vigilance.
Now, we come to why each card is part of the deck. They're divided into 5 parts: Artifacts, Creatures, Enchantments, Instants, and Sorceries.
