Creatures

- Death's Shadow: This deck was designed to lose itself a ton of life...making this guy an obvious choice for beating the opponent to a pulp.- Delver of Secrets  : Great creature for beating opponents down, and quickly gets out of hand. - Melira, Sylvok Outcast: Part of a wombo-combo with Phyrexian Unlife to give us a pseudo-Platinum Angel.- Thrun, the Last Troll: Super-resilient beat stick if our other creatures aren't enough.

- Phyrexian Unlife: This card is essential to the strategy of the deck, allowing us to make Death's Shadow super huge by plunging our life total into the negatives. With Melira, Sylvok Outcast, we hardly need to worry about killing ourselves either!

Instants/Sorceries

On top of being able to flip Delver of Secrets  , these spells are great for helping us win. - Abrupt Decay: Too good a removal spell to not play. - Apostle's Blessing: Cheap protection spell to save our creatures from removal, and can be used for a unblocked swing to win. - Dismember: Great removal spell in any deck, but especially good here because it will always cost 1 . We want to kill ourselves to make Death's Shadow as big as possible.- Gitaxian Probe: Who doesn't like drawing cards for ?- Glittering Wish: Extremely handy spell that can be used to fetch whatever card we need from our SB. Currenty only have 4 targets but we're looking to add more. - Idyllic Tutor: Tutor for Phyrexian Unlife that flips the Delver of Secrets  . - Orzhov Charm : Provides great utility in many situations. - Remand: Counterspells are good, and cantrips are good. This does both, and cheap! Great way to protect our creatures and keep up our tempo. - Spell Pierce: Cheaper, more restricted counter than Remand to protect our creatures. - Surgical Extraction: Removing opponents wincons is really great, and when combined with Thoughtseize can remove them all in 1 shot. - Thoughtseize: A staple in decks, removing opponents cards before they play them is a great thing to do on T1. - Time of Need: Tutor for Melira, Sylvok Outcast or Thrun, the Last Troll that flips Delver of Secrets  .

Sideboard Breakdown

- Abrupt Decay: Such a great removal spell, useful in every matchup but no room for more in the mainboard. - Bitterblossom: Everybody likes 1/1 flying tokens. Losing life also makes Death's Shadow bigger. A very resilient threat against a lot of decks. - Blind Obedience: Stops Splinter Twin decks, and can be used to gain life in critical situations. - Ghostly Prison: Useful against aggro and token decks. - Golgari Charm: So much utility. Stops tokens, regenerates all our dudes in case of removal, and blows up annoying stuff. - Hurkyl's Recall: Great against affinity.- Krosan Grip : Good against Affinity, Pod, Twin...- Leyline of Sanctity: Good against burn, and hand disruption. - Maelsteom Pulse: Very strong removal option in a lot of matchups. - Melira, Sylvok Outcast: Never know when a second may be useful. Especially against Infect. She also comes in against decks that can and will kill her easily, like burn. Apostle's Blessing can only do so much. - Mindbreak Trap: Only useful against Storm, but this is so good to have in that matchup b- Stony Silence: Great against Pod. - Suppression Field: Great for slowing down a lot of decks, like Pod. - Supreme Verdict: Great against aggro and tokens. Running it over Damnation or Wrath of God because it can't be countered, and it allows us to regenerate our own creatures with a sideboarded Golgari Charm, or Thrun, the Last Troll's ability.

Note

We are playing City of Brass over Mana Confluence. The difference between paying 1 life and taking 1 damage is minute, but important here. We can't pay life we don't have, so Mana Confluence will only let us do so much. City of Brass will always give us mana, and will always make us happy by making Death's Shadow bigger.
