Method to the Madness

What this deck is trying to do is utilize the amazing ability that is that of Nekusar, the Mindrazer. She first jumped out at me as a way to draw additional cards whilst punishing the opponents by taking action. It was only later through exploration that it occurred to me the potential that it has. By using group hug cards such as Temple Bell and Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, we appear neigh a threat in the early game, seemingly building up the opponent's game whilst our plan hatches. Once we strike down with an Omniscience, we quickly unload our hand, draw our deck and either win with Laboratory Maniac, Nekusar, the Mindrazer, or something similar that punishes card draw or discard on the opponents.

Beginning of the end

To begin the game we are looking at a lot of mana, and just one card that allows us to draw cards fast. Most people will see us as not a threat yet, or wish to play the political game and stop attacking us. This means that Counterspell's are few and far between, and board wipes such as Damnation are more common. Once we ramp into our mega draw spells we usually hold between 10-17 cards in hand thanks to a Reliquary Tower or a Spellbook. Thus, we do not require an overly defensive opening hand because we are able to quickly draw into it.

Into the eye of the storm

As we approach the middle of the game our opponents generally realise that maybe letting this storm approach was not a good idea. Thanks to Omniscience which is often quickly drawn into, and quickly ramped towards, we can play virtually anything from our deck. Typically the middle of the game for us is shutting down our opponents games with a well placed Damnation or Cyclonic Rift. At this point we can either swing in with one of our few creatures or we can play a political enabling game. We hold the power. Otherwise this point of the game is key for building up our one Planeswalker in the deck on nixilis reignited. His ultimate was just too good to pass up in this kind of deck, as well as being a very 'win more' kind of card once we are at the late game.

The Abyss Beyond Dreams

(yes that was a reference to the book)

Once we have hit with our hardest hitters and emptied our library into our hand, the world is our oyster. Very often we can Wheel and Deal our way through the game with Nekusar, the Mindrazer pinging our opponents. Also, since we have most of the options from our deck, we have Liliana's Caress which works particularly well with the wheel effects. The unspoken achiever in the deck is Jace's Archivist. Many a time have I won a game off this little 'wheel on a stick'. Since I have effects that increase my draw such as Consecrated Sphinx and Thought Reflection , I get more than double value from wheel effects. Usually by this point I have the option to outright beatdown the opponents or just Laboratory Maniac my way to the win.

Order amongst chaos

The combos of the deck are not original, and mostly are just good synergies, but there are some opportunities to go infinite.

Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind . A favourite amongst izzet draw decks, mainly suits flavour and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind was already going in.

Library of Leng + Mind Over Matter + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind . Doesn't support the mill plan but instead it infinitely damages the opponents for an easy win.
